CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
This chapter presents the background of the study, objectives of the problem,
significance of the study, and scope and delimitation of the study.
Motorcycles are usually used in different purposes, may it be for commuting, long
distance travel, cruising, sports including racing, and off-road riding. They are also used
in related social activity such as joining a motorcycle club and attending motorcycle
rallies.
However, motorcycles can easily catch environmental filth such as dust and dirt
along the road. Due to hectic schedule of work, some owners of vehicles do not have
enough time to clean their vehicle. This habit repeats until motor parts and their
functions are now slowly affected.
Washing the motorcycle regularly protects the vehicle’s finish from harsh
elements such as road salts, carbon soot, acid rain and other environmental filth. These
contaminants can cause damage to clearcoats, paint and metal surfaces. Keeping
vehicle surfaces clean may add a few years to the life span of its appearance. The
investment of a little time and money up front for regular cleaning and maintenance will
save on more costly paint and surface detailing in the future.
1. Save expenses for bringing the motorcycle in car/motorcycle wash and shops
away from home
2. Encourage entrepreneur among the community
3. Help to build a small business for minor areas
Aside from socio economics benefits, this will also be beneficial to the future
researchers in conducting related study for this will serve as a reference and source of
knowledge to improve their project.
This study will focus in the development and fabrication of the coin-operated
motorcycle washer.
Since this is a pilot design, it is initially intended for small washer shops and other
purposes. Economic analysis and performance of the machine is considered.
CHAPTER II
This chapter presents the studies and theories that are relevant to the study.
Presented also in this chapter are the conceptual framework and the operational
definition of terms.
