7. Question numbers 3 to 5 in Section- B are two marks questions. These are to be answered in
30 words each. (Phy.: 3 ; Che.: 4 ; Bio.: 5 )

18. Question numbers 6 to 15 in Section-C are three marks questions. These are to be answered in about
50 words each. (Phy.: 6,7,8,9 ; Che.: 10,11,12 ; Bio.: 13, 14, 15)

19. Question numbers 16 to 21 in Section-D are 5 marks questions. These are to be answered in 70

17. Define resistance of a conductor. State the factors on which resistance of a conductor depends. Name the
device which is often used to change the resistance without changing the voltage source in an electric
circuit. Calculate the resistance of 50 m length of wire of cross sectional area 0.01 square mm and of
resistivity 5 X 10-8 - m (5 marks)

18. Considered the chemical equation given below and answer the questions that follow: (5 marks)

(d) What type of a reaction does this equation represent?
(e) Write two names of antioxidants.

18. (i) What is reactivity series. How does the reactivity series of metals help in predicting the relative's
activities of various metals?
(ii) Suggest different chemical processes used for obtaining a metal from its oxides for metals in the middle
of the reactivity series and metals towards the top of the reactivity series. Support your answer with one
example each. (5 marks)

19. State reason for the following statements:


(i) Tap water conducts electricity, whereas distilled water does not.
(ii) Dry hydrogen chloride gas does not turn blue litmus red whereas dilute hydrochloric acid does.
(iii) During summer season, milk usually adds a very small amount of baking soda to fresh milk.
(iv) For a dilution of acid, acid is added into water and not water into acid
(v) Curd and sour substances not to be kept in brass and copper vessels (5 marks)

22. If two resistances of 8 ohm each are connected in parallel , find the equivalent resistance. (2 marks)

23. For carrying out the experiment, on finding the equivalent resistance of two resistors connected in series, a
student sets up the circuit as shown. On further verification he finds out that the circuit has one or more of
the following faults. (2 marks)

(i) The resistors R1 and R2 have not been correctly connected in series.
(ii) The voltmeter has not been correctly connected in the circuit.
(iii) The ammeter has not been correctly connected in the circuit.

24. What happens when a copper strip is put in silver nitrate solution? (2 marks)
25. A student dips pH paper in solution A and B observes that the pH paper turns blue and orange respectively
in them. What does he infer? (2 marks)

26. Name any two accessory excretory organ in humans. (2 marks)
