Penguin Marches! So due to the pandemic
the penguin marches obviously look a little
different. The temperature has to be below
50 degrees for the penguins to safely march
and it is their decision to march.
General Knowledge
● Live in the Sub-Antarctic
● Conservation status is of least concern
● Diet consists of small fish, small
crustaceans, and squid
● Mature sexually at age 3 and *usually*
mate with one bird a season
● Typically start breeding around age 6
● Mother and father take shifts incubating
the egg every 2 ½ weeks so they could
go hunt
● The egg hatched 50 to 60 days after
being laid and the parents take shifts for
40 days to keep the chick warm and fed
● When that phase is done all the chicks
move in together, a crèche, to protect
each other and keep each other warm
● Predators are the sea lion, killer whale,
snowy sheathbill, and skua
● Currently 2.2 million breeding pairs
● Live in huge colonies
