Reflections:

Based on my professional practice and my observations of student learning . . .

What should I do more of? What should I do less of?

-use technology -100% instruction

-use varying teaching practices -limiting instruction to white board activities
-expressly connect FNMI to science and math -reduce science into simplification of fact
more often based knowledge

Because Because

-not using technology reduces connection with -student lead instruction allows students to
students connect with material on a deeper level
-a singular teaching strategy does not -varied instruction methods keep things alive in
effectively communicate material at all times the classroom
-FNMI cultures have played an integral role in -knowledge surrounding the wholeness of a
knowledge of our natural world and that should subject, more correctly honours its heritage
be recognized

What new things could I do? What should I stop doing?

-use technological aids in teaching -strictly white board teaching

-have student led teaching/exploration of -being the sole purveyor of information in the
learning activities classroom
-connect the subject matter to the natural world -sticking to the confines of the classroom
better

Because Because

-technology reaches students more -its boring and redundant

appropriately as they come from a generation -students need to explore their learning
who was born with the world at the finger tips -movement and exploration is good for student
-student led teaching can allow for deeper health and well-being
meaning
-the natural world is what science teaches
about…so use it!
