Dear Amanda,

Thank you so much for your interest in the University of Virginia’s Summer Research Internship Program (SRIP). We are
delighted to offer you a position in our 2019 program!

You were selected for this opportunity from a pool of nearly 500 applicants. Given that we have many applicants waiting to
hear from us, we would ask that you please let us know whether you accept our offer no later than Monday, March 25th
at noon, EST. Of course, it would be very helpful if you could let us know sooner! Please respond to this email AND
record your response in the application system. It may require at least an overnight update (to the next business day)
before the online response form will be accessible to you - you should receive a system generated email notifying you
that a decision has been made regarding your application, at which point you will be able to access your application
status page and respond. If we have not heard from you by the date/time indicated, this offer will be rescinded.

The support level will be $4,000 (pre-tax) for the 10 week period from May 24th through August 2nd. In addition, we will
provide housing during your time here and cover travel expenses to and from the program in the form of either round-trip
airfare or mileage reimbursement. While we will try to accommodate the research interests that you listed in your
application, our first priority is to match you with a mentor who will provide the best possible summer research experience.
If you accept our offer, information about your mentor will be provided in late April, in order to give you plenty of time to
prepare for your summer research.

We are very enthusiastic about the summer program we have designed for you and believe that the combination of an
immersive research experience, professional development opportunities and communication workshops will prepare you
for success in your future pursuits.

If you have any questions about the program, please don't hesitate to contact us. In the meantime, we hope that you will
seriously consider our offer to join us at the University of Virginia School of Medicine this summer!

Best,
Janet
