INTRODUCTION!
If
you’re
running
business
or
a
blog
in
the
21st
century,
then
chances
are,
you’ve
heard
of
TwiPer
and
you’ve
heard
that
it
can
be
a
powerful
tool
for
genera0ng
traffic,
leads,
sales,
and
a
boatload
of
other
things.
(If
you
haven’t,
read
this.)
I
first
heard
that
TwiPer
could
be
used
for
marke0ng
a
few
years
back,
but
never
truly
considered
it
un0l
a
few
months
ago
when
Flight
Media
launched
it’s
blog
and
became
a
legal
company.
Since
then,
I
(along
with
most
of
our
team)
have
accumulated
more
than
15k
followers
and
turned
TwiPer
into
a
traffic/sales
machine.
It
wasn’t,
however,
un0l
I
mastered
these
techniques
that
Flight
Media
began
to
see
an
incredible
ROI.
Let’s
get
started.
!
3
“It’s easier than it sounds.”!
TwiPer
is
much
different
than
other
social
networks
when
it
comes
to
business.
It’s
less
about
who’s
following
you
and
more
about
who
you’re
following.
In
other
words,
people
like
to
follow
people
who
follow
them.
(If
you’ve
been
on
TwiPer
before,
then
you
probably
understand
this)
So,
if
you
want
to
accumulate
a
massive
amount
of
like-‐minded,
relevant
followers,
then
it’s
absolutely
vital
that
you
follow
them
as
first..
That
said,
the
following
steps
and
tools
are
recommended
tac:cs
based
on
the
results
of
a
3-‐month
Twi>er
case
study
Flight
Media
conducted
in
2013.
1.
Understand
Twi=er
Rules
As
I
said
above,
in
order
to
grow
your
following,
it’s
essen0al
that
you
follow
people.
According
to
TwiPer’s
Policy,
You
can
follow
up
to
2,000
people.
In
order
to
follow
more
people,
you
must
reach
an
unstated
follower-‐to-‐following
ra0o.
Don’t
worry,
we’ve
done
our
research
and
tes0ng
to
conclude
that
once
you
achieve
following
2,000
people,
you
can
only
follow
10%
more
than
are
following
you.
For
example,
if
you
have
2,000
followers,
you
can
follow
up
to
2,200
people.
The
breaking
point
is
1,819.
Once
you
hit
1,820
followers,
you
can
be
following
2,002.
On
top
of
reaching
a
total
following
limit,
there
is
also
a
daily
followinglimit
of
1,000.
(This
is
highly
discouraged
&
a
recommended
number
will
be
covered
in
#2.)
4
Like
I
said
in
#1,
you
can
technically
follow
up
to
1,000
people
per
day
on
TwiPer.
Don’t
do
it.
We’ve
seen
profiles
get
suspended
and
shut
down
because
TwiPer
also
monitors
how
aggressively
you
follow
people.
5
In
other
words,
keep
it
under
600
people/day.
I
recommend
star0ng
with
100
per
day
for
the
first
7-‐14
days,
then
bump
it
up.
I
currently
follow
600
people
per
day.
If
you’re
following
relevant
users,
then
you
can
expect
35-‐40%
to
return
the
follow.
(I’ve
had
up
to
60%)
*Important:
To
ensure
that
you
are
not
following
an
obscure
amount
of
people,
it’s
vital
that
you
unfollow
non-‐reciproca0ng
people.
To
do
this,
go
to
the
homepage
of
Tweepi
and
Flush
the
non-‐reciproca0ng
people
you
are
following.
3.
As
your
following
grows,
you
need
to
constantly
market
your
business
and
posi0on
yourself
as
an
industry
thought
leader
through
twee0ng
loads
of
content.
We
usually
break
down
our
Tweets
into
4
main
categories:
1. Internal
Content
(Your
blog
posts)
2. External
Content
(Relevant
ar0cles
wriPen
by
other
industry
leaders)
3. Inspira0onal
Quotes
(Highly
shareable
and
generate
more
than
500%
more
retweets
&
favorites
than
any
other
category)
4. Promo0ons
(Offers
such
as
discounts,
free
eBooks,
white
papers,
etc.)
The
good
thing
about
TwiPer
is
that
there
is
basically
no
limit
as
to
how
much
you
should
tweet.
It’s
not
like
Facebook,
Google+,
or
Linkedin
because
tweets
are
seen
as
people’s
thoughts—meaning,
there
are
a
lot
and
it’s
acceptable.
So,
how
much
should
I
tweet?
Like
I
said
above,
there
isn’t
a
set
number
of
0mes
you
should
tweet
daily.
For
example,
Guy
Kawasaki
grew
a
following
of
more
than
1.4
million
people
by
twee0ng
50
:mes
per
day.
He
found
that
twee0ng
more
frequently
was
greatly
beneficial
within
his
industry,
so
he
did.
Primarily,
it’s
important
to
look
at
your
industry
and
decide
what
is
acceptable.
I
recommend
10-‐12
tweets
per
day—minimum
for
any
industry.

*Important:
Before
you
create
you
auto-‐DM,
keep
the
do’s
and
don’ts
in
mind:
Do
make
the
Direct
Message
(DM)
personable
and
ask
them
a
strategized
ques0on
to
spark
interac0on
that
could
lead
to
a
poten0al
customer.
Don’t
send
them
a
link
to
your
blog,
site,
landing
page,
offer,
etc.
in
the
direct
message.
(TwiPer
will
immediately
flag
your
DM
if
it
has
a
link
and
it
will
eventually
get
your
account
suspended
because
DM’s
with
links
are
viewed
as
spam—which
is
true
in
most
cases.)
You
can
send
a
link
when
they
ask!
So,
to
help
you
crab
the
perfect
DM,
here’s
a
few
examples
that
I’ve
had
massive
success
with:
Example
#1
One
of
our
clients
was
a
Forex
broker.
They
wanted
to
get
people
to
sign
up
for
their
‘prac0ce
accounts’
and
eventually
turn
them
into
funded
LIVE
accounts.
To
do
this,
I
created
a
DM
that
asked
a
strategized
ques0on
to
push
their
free
accounts
and
paid
accounts
at
the
same
0me:
“You’re
awesome.
:)
Are
you
and
ac:ve
Forex
trader?”
By
opening
up
with
“You’re
awesome.
:)”,
you’re
crea0ng
a
sense
of
personality
and
most
people
will
respond
to
being
called
awesome.
The
ques0on
por0on
was
used
because
it
only
had
two
answers:
yes
or
no.
If
someone
responded
saying,
“Yes
I
am
an
ac0ve
trader!”,
then
I
would
inform
them
of
the
latest
trading
plauorm
released
and
would
send
them
a
link
to
a
free
demo
of
the
proprietary
trading
plauorm.
If
someone
responded
saying,
“No,
but
I
have
looked
into
Forex”
or
“No,
but
I’m
studying
it
right
now”,
then
I
would
hook
them
up
with
a
free
‘prac0ce
account’.
Either
way,
it
was
a
win-‐win.
8
Example
#2
I
have
my
DM
set
to
say,
“You’re
awesome!
Are
you
an
entrepreneur
or
business
owner,
too?
(I’m
a
mo0va0onal
speaker
and
marke0ng
director)
:)”
Again,
the
first
phrase
grabs
their
aPen0on
and
ini0ates
more
responses,
while
the
ques0on,
“Are
you
an
entrepreneur
or
business
owner,
too?”
provokes
a
response
and
lets
me
know
what
services
to
sell
to
them.
If
someone
says,
“Yes!
I’m
an
entrepreneur.
I
own
Company
XYZ.”,
then
I’ll
review
their
website
and
ask
them
if
they’re
happy
with
the
amount
of
leads
they’re
genera0ng,
traffic
their
receiving,
etc.
If
someone
says,
“No,
I’m
not”,
then
I
don’t
respond.
Easy,
right?

5.
Monitor
Everything
As
your
TwiPer
marke0ng
journey
progresses,
it’s
very
important
to
monitor
things
such
as:
• Follower
growth
• #
of
link
clicks
• #
of
retweets
• @men0ons
• Direct
Message
responses
(they
oben
slip
by,
so
it’s
good
to
monitor
your
inbox!)
• Impressions
By
monitoring
each
of
these
metrics,
you
will
be
able
to
split-‐test
different
kinds
of
tweets,
different
twee0ng
0mes,
and
keep
on
top
of
messages
and
@men0ons
people
send
you
to
capitalize
on
any
potenVal
sales.
We
highly
recommend
Sprout
Social
for
all
social
media
management
and
measuring
metrics.
Below
is
an
example
of
a
recent
Flight
