Work Method Statement

CONTRACTOR: Rafique Fabrication Engineering Works Pvt Ltd

PROJECT: Mech-HVAC Super structure – Erection, Welding & Installation

SITE: New Utility Area (Inside & outside) & RFEW Workshop DATE: 24.08.2019

DETAILS:
We work according to the code of conduct of the organizations.

We will follow the following steps to accomplish the given project:

P.T.W:
First of all we will get completely assigned P.T.W. (Done by supervisors)

Tool Box Meeting:


Secondly, supervisors will arrange a gathering of workers at a point in the factory area to
inform them about the nature of the job and its possible hazards. It will also be done by the
Safety and Site supervisors.

Safety:
• People are our most important asset and their health and safety is our greatest
responsibility
• We always start our work under the safety measures, so first of all we shall provide
complete safety equipments to our workers
• Indentify people, PPE’s, SOP’s, potential hazards and safety controls prior to
commencement of works
• Site induction for all employee’s to know role for each job
• To identify and control all potential hazards in the workplace through hazard
identification and risk analysis
• Take rest breaks as required

Tools and Machine tools:

• Mobile Crane 25 Ton (3P certified)


• Fork Lifter 3 Tons(3P certified)
• Scissor lift (3P Certified)
• Cradle (3P Certified) & Genie (3P Certified)
• Belts (20,08,03 & 02 Tons) (3P certified)
• Shackles (12, 9.5, 8.5, 6.5, 4 & 2Tons) (3P certified)
• Slings (6 ,5 tons ) (3P certified)
• Chain Blocks ( 2 Tons , 3 Tons , 5 Tons) (3P certified)
• Welding Plants
• Grinders 4", 5", 9"
• Hydraulic & mechanical Jack
• Pipe Cutter
• Spanners & adjustable spanner
• Magnetic Drill Machine
• Stand Drill machine
• Scaffolding
• Painting equipments( spray machine)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):


Following PPE would use during the execution of Job

Safety Helmet, Safety Shoes, Reflector Jacket, Safety Goggles, Welding Helmet, Fire
Cylinder, Fire Blanket, Safety Harness ,Ear Plug, Dust Mask, Welding Gloves & Cut
Resistance Gloves.

Routine Work:
• Mobilization of Team with material to Site
• Issuance of PTW
• Tool Box Talk (TBT)
• Identification, cleaning and barricading of area
• Fire Watch (for Hot Job)
• We will cordon off the working area with barrier or corrugated sheets during the
working

WORK METHOD:
The whole project is divided into five phases. Each stage description is given below:

• Confirm availability of PTW, Risk Assessment & filled checklist of Crane, Scissor ,
cradle, Heavy lifting, work at Height
• Request to issue work permit when required
• Cordon off the work area with solid barriers & warning signs will be displayed
• Installation of scaffolding on the site where required & arrange for its inspection or
approval from safety inspector. Dismantling & shifting after the usage of the
scaffolding
1st Phase: Unload & shift the Steel Structure material at Temporary site & Working
Site

• Firstly, we would unload the Steel structure material from the trailer at RFEW
Workshop with help of Crane 25 Tons and manpower with safety protocol like
barrication, tag line , Skilled rigger & team
• Place all the steel structure material such as Beams, C-channels, Angles, plates in a
order.
• And then shift the material to the site as per requirement on the trolley (manual or
engine) and Forklift

2nd Phase: Pre-fabrication & Shifting of Steel Structure

• In this phase, we would pre-fabricate the beams , C-channels , Angles ,clids at the
RFEW Workshop by using grinders and welding machine as per given drawing
• And also hole in the beams , channels, Angles ,clids as per drawing by Drilling
machine
• And then move the pre-fabricate structure to the site as per requirement by using
manual and engine trolley & Forklift

3rd Phase: Erection, Installation & Welding of Steel Structure

• Firstly, our team shall install the base plates on the existing foundation and then fix it
by nuts & bolts after the water level.
• And then spot the crane 25 Tons at the site and lift the columns H-Beam 8” x 8” by
fixing the belts/slings(20,08,03 & 02 Tons) & shackles (12, 9.5, 8.5, 6.5, 4 & 2Tons)
with the Steel structure H-beams and then attached with the hook of the crane
• After checking by the rigger & supervisor, the belts & shackles are firmly fixed.
• Then rigger allows crane operator to move the columns and install on the base plates
one by one. Mechanical Team will weld the Columns(H-beam) with the base plate
with welding machine
• And then install all columns with same procedure
• After welding of all columns , Install the clids on every columns by step ladder or
scaffolding or scissor lift as per site condition
• For drilling job , used magnetic drill to hole in the beams , channels to fix with clids
and nuts & bolts
• Then install the I-beam 10” x 5” horizontally with the help of crane and move on the
existing clids and mechanical team shall fix it by Nuts & bolts by using spanners.
After fixing by the nuts & bolts , remove the shackles & belts from the beam
• And then install all horizontal beams with same procedure. Chain blocks are also used
for installation of small pieces of beams
• After fixing all horizontal beams, then install and fix H-beam 6” x 6” with the
horizontal beam by nuts & bolts. Use crane , chain block ,Forklift as well manually
by rigging belts as per site condition
• After fixing the H-beams, Install and fix it C-channels 6”x3” with H-beam 6”x6” by
clids and nuts & bolts as per given drawing. Using stepladder or scaffolding or scissor
lift as per condition
• Then install & fix the C-channel 3” x 1.5” with beams & C-channels by clids & nuts
& bolts as per drawing
• In last, fully inspect the total steel structure platform per given design parameter

4th Phase: Erection, Installation & Welding of Chequered Plates & railing

• In this phase, our team shall install the Chequered plates on the structure and then
weld it with the bottom structure and also weld with other plates. Used stepladder or
scaffolding for bottom welding as per site condition
• For this purpose, we spot crane 25 Tons there and lift the all plates one by one by
fixing the belts/slings (20, 08, 03 & 02 Tons) & shackles (8.5, 6.5, 4 & 2Tons) and
place on the Top of the structure. Mechanical team will weld it accordingly
• And also used scissor lift or scaffolding for manpower movement to structure as per
site condition
• After welding all the chequered plates by welding machines
• Then fabricate the MS railing according to drawing and then weld along the structure
by using welding & grinder machines
• In last, fully inspect the Chequered plate and railing per given design parameter
5th Phase: Erection, Installation & Welding of Stairs

• In this phase, our team shall install the square box 6” x 6” on the existing foundation
and other square box attached with structure
• Fabricate the steps of the stairs as per drawing of Chequered plate and install on the
square box and weld it properly
• And then install and welding the railing by using grinders & welding machine and
attached with structure railing. For this purpose , use scaffolding , stepladder or
scissor lift as per requirement
• In last, fully inspect the Stairs and railing per given design parameter
Painting Job:
• Firstly , red-oxide paint the steel structure materials as per requirement by using
manual brush or Spray machine and Other PPE’s gloves , mask , goggles etc
• Then install the enamel paint on the steel structure as per requirement by using
manual brush & Spray machine with proper PPE’s.
• Attached MSDS of paint during painting job
• Note: Don’t Hot work near the paint activity
Closure:
• In last & also day end, all scrap shift to scrap yard or specific area and clean the work
area
• At the end of the day/job, supervisor will watch the working area for almost one hour
to assure safety especially “FIRE” and then he will go to get closing of the P.T.W.
after this, he will be able to order to close the working site
