The optimal physical education program will support a lifelong commitment to physical activity as part

of a healthy lifestyle. In the end, improved coordinated school health programs, of which physical
education is a key component, will increase further prevention efforts and help reverse the growing
epidemic of childhood obesity that threatens to undo decades of progress in the fight against
cardiovascular disease and other diseases. Effective efforts are now being made to help children avoid
chronic illness and disability in their lifetime.

People are often confused in describing physical education, as they often believe that physical education
is sports education. Simply placed, physical education is characterized as a method of learning by
physical activity. The aim is to grow individuals acquired through experience in motion. In a broader
sense, physical education is characterized as a continuum of learning through physical activity designed
to enhance physical fitness, develop motor skills, awareness and actions of healthy and active living,
sportsmanship and emotional intelligence.

Physical education is therefore not only directed at physical growth, but also at the development of the
person as a whole. Physical education students can learn a number of expressions that are closely linked
to personal experiences of fun, as well as different expressions of imagination, innovation and abilities,
physical exercise, healthy behaviors and experience and understanding of human motion.

Health and physical education programs should be designed to teach students the skills, knowledge and
attitudes necessary to live a healthy lifestyle and to choose healthy and safe behaviors. Physical
education is unique because it gives students the opportunity to learn motor skills, develop fitness and
gain insight into the importance of physical activity.

Students should be provided with an individualized, developmentally appropriate and individually

challenging training curriculum that advances the awareness , trust, skills and inspiration required to
engage in a lifelong, safe, active lifestyle. There are several branches of physical education, and it is not
only about teaching sports of any sort, whether basketball or track, etc. Nutrition and wellbeing are
some of the main subjects, which include teaching healthy eating habits.

In conclusion, physical education is really important because it helps to teach a balanced lifestyle, keeps
the body active and encourages a long life. The lack of physical education also has its drawbacks, as it
can encourage multiple diseases, contribute to obesity and is more vulnerable to mental disorders
