Asynchronous Task
1. When you push the valve in a syringe, the trapped gas inside it gets compressed.
What gas law can explain this situation?
- The working of a syringe can also be explained using Boyle's Law. When the
plunger of a syringe is pulled out, the volume inside the barrel increases,
resulting in a decrease in the pressure inside the barrel. Fluids (such as water)
flow from a high pressure area to a low pressure area.
3. In your own words, explain the gas law using the assumptions of the kinetic
molecular theory.
a. Boyle’s law
- The volume of a constant mass of ideal gas at a constant temperature is
inversely proportional to its pressure.
b. Gay-lussac’s law
- Gay-Lussac's Law is an ideal gas law where at constant volume, the pressure of
an ideal gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature.
c. Charles’s law
- It states that if pressure of any gas is made constant then volume of the gas will
become directly proportional to temperature of the gas.
