ART SCHOOL LONDON
About the brand
ART SCHOOL is a genderless label based in London, focused on redefining the limitations of ready to wear fashion. Directed by
Eden Loweth, the label is a platform to express ideas both in design and art using luxury fashion as a communicative tool to explore
contemporary queerness. The designer has worked with some of the most prominent emerging designers of the times including
LVMH prize winner Grace Wales Bonner.
CONCEPT
The collection is inspired by the underground drag scene of the
80s and its subsequent effects on wider queer culture and the
larger counterculture of the time.

The most influential among inspirations is Grace jones during the

80s and found photographs of drag queens from the era, a large
majority of whom were heavily persecuted for the way they
dressed in public and while performing.

The collection explores themes of modesty, enforced

heteronormativity, overtones of racial prejudice among the queer
community and how they still play a large role in shaping up
queer culture in 2021 with fem-shaming, strict roles and beauty
standards and whitewashing of queer history.

The collection is scheduled to be a drop between the

Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections to test the
waters on how the market reacts to clothes that are so obviously
inspired by the idea of clubbing, an almost alien concept during
the current pandemic.
