PROJECT 2 : ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

CONSTITUTIONAL LAW II (UCL 1622)

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Assignments are to be attempted in groups. Each group shall consist of a total of


FIVE (5) members. Groups must be form within the same Lecture Session for
L1 (Under Ms Lee Sook Ling) and must be within the same tutorial session
for L2 (under Mr Hakimi)

2. Each group is to attempt only ONE question as stated below. This question is
worth a total of 20 marks.

3. The maximum number of pages for the assignment shall be 15 pages. Students are
reminded to include only relevant arguments and issues in the assignment.

4. The assignment shall be typed in Times New Roman, font size of 12 with a
spacing of 1.5.

5. Page Margin: Top: 2.5cm, Bottom: 3cm, Left: 3.8 cm, Right: 2.5cm.

6. Students are required to use Oxford University Standard for the Citation of
Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) style for referencing and footnoting purposes.

7. Kindly ensure that the names, student IDs and signatures (if possible) of every
group member is clearly stated on the front cover page. Each group is to appoint
a leader and his or her name shall appear as the first name on the front cover
page. Students whose names do not appear on the covers of any of the
assignments shall be given NO marks for the assignment. Kindly include the
question on the front cover page too. Failure to adhere to any of the instructions
will lead to a serious reduction in marks.

8. All other necessary instructions will be given during tutorials.

9. The assignment shall be due on Friday 22 January 2021, by 5pm.

10. Please upload your assignments on the Google Classroom of your respective
lecturer in PDF format. Failure to pass up the assignment on time will lead to a
reduction of marks. Thank you.
QUESTION:
The rights of freedom of religion and the right in respect of education in Malaysia are
both protected under Article 11 and Article 12 of the Federal Constitution. Even though
both rights are recognized and protected under the Constitution, regardless, it does not
come without any limitation(s).

Critically analyse the statement above with reference to the Malaysian position and in
comparison with the guarantees and restrictions under the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights (UDHR), and the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). In
addition to that, critically analyse the guarantees and limitations of the abovementioned
rights in the United Kingdom as well.
