Calma, David Andrei D.C.

It is very undeniable that majority of us Filipinos were heavily affected by this COVID-19
Pandemic, mainly those who are impoverished nor deprived in terms of access to health care
services. As we go deeper and deeper into our case study, I've realized how important the
primary health care services nowadays especially to those individuals who are jobless due to
the closing of different establishments and those who belong under the class of middle and low
income earners. However, economical position must not take in place in achieving the proper
medical attention, thus, both the government and health sector must take the initiative to
implement various health programs that will further improve the health care system in our
country especially during this pandemic, wherein majority of the people belongs to the middle
and lower class groups, therefore, they must be prioritized due to their high susceptibility of
acquiring and passing the virus among other people.
Moreover, the importance of health education is very vital nowadays due to the fact that
our enemy/the virus itself is a new strain of virus, hence, we must keep ourselves vigilant and
equipped with vital information that we can use to prevent acquiring and transmitting this
disease. Aside from health education, further reinforcement of skills among the mentioned
groups are very important for disease prevention and transmission and it is also necessary to
delimit the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in our country. Knowing that the
aforementioned groups does not widely use technology in obtaining news and updates in terms
of COVID-19, our proposed program will cover this problem, thus, utilizing the resources of each
community together with the coordination of local sector and health department,
announcements and reinforcements will be done by a group of town criers inside the community
in order to keep the members of community updated regarding on the latest information and
skills essential in preventing acquiring the disease. through this program, rest-assured that
middle and low class groups are fully equipped with the necessary information and skills that
they can use in their daily lives during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Lastly, we cannot blame our fellow brothers and sisters for their economic status, hence,
this COVID pandemic must serve as a lesson in all of us that every living individual must have
the right to have access to health care services whenever they need it regardless of their status
nor condition. Also, this program cannot be implemented without the help of the government
and health sector. Therefore, the monetary budget must be distributed accordingly and fairly in
order to implement this program, hence maximizing its potential benefits and outcomes among
the target groups and other individuals who need this service as well. Finally, as a community
health nurse, we must serve to be a client-advocate which aims to promote positive change in
the lives of our patients and empowers their morale as a person.
