Study Guide: Answer briefly and concisely.
1. What is the importance of conducting a system analysis of food chain and food web in the
environment?
This is to illustrate the feeding relationships among species within a community, revealing
species interactions and community structure, and understanding the dynamics of energy
transfer in an ecosysystem. To understand how the food chain works so that we know what
are the important living organisms that make up the food chain and how the ecology is
balanced.
2. What is the importance of conducting a hierarchal analysis in food pyramid and energy
pyramid?
The importance of this is to understand how energy and shows rates of energy flow through
trophic levels, not absolute amounts of energy stored. Also this pyramids demonstrate a
large amount of producers at the base of the pyramid will be needed to support only a few
of the consumers at the top.
3. What lessons did you learn from this exercise?
The interrelationship and interdependence of organisms to survive Ina certain environment
through the flow of energy.
4. Given the limitation due to current situation (pandemic), what suggestions could you
Nutrition and food system- to shape food systems, contribute to improved nutrition and
ensure that food is produced, distributed and consumed in a sustainable manner that
protects the right to adequate food for all. Improved food environment for healthy diets and
enhanced nutrition- sustainable diets are those with low environmental impacts which
contribute to food and nutrition security and to healthy life for present and future
generations.
