 Chemical change occurs to materials when heat is applied.
This means that one substance with a certain set of properties
(such as melting point, color, taste, etc.) is turned into a
different substance with different properties.
 When a chemical change happens, it means that a chemical
reaction has taken place and new products are formed.
Chemical changes are frequently harder to
reverse than physical changes.

 The two common effects on matter when there is a presence or

absence of oxygen are combustion and rusting.
 When iron is exposed to water and oxygen, it gets coated with a
brownish red layer called rust
 Rusting is caused by the reaction of iron with oxygen present in the
air. It is an example of a chemical change.
 A chemical property is most evident when a certain material
chemically reacts with another material.
 Combustibility is the ability material of the material to burn while
flammability is the ability of a material to ignite or catch fire easily.
 Combustible and flammable materials react readily and easily when
exposed to extreme heat so they need to disposed properly.
 Three elements needed for fire to occur: heat, fuel, Oxygen
