Speech Function Of Teachers Utterances In Classroom Interaction

At The Elementary School

Analysis:

a. Introduction
a. In this thesis, the researcher has been able to make the contents of the introduction
correctly and clearly, the researcher has also conveyed common problems that
have occurred and provided examples in previous research. The research gap in
this study can be seen clearly. “Speech function is an exchange of experience in
communication between speaker and listener where the speaker adopts a speech
functional role and signs the addressee a complementary role”. The researcher
makes the problem in the background of the problem clear because it includes
preliminary data completely by showing the reader some examples to reinforce
the problem that occurs which we know that preliminary data is the main thing
that we must include in the background of the problem without preliminary data.
our data is less accurate and clear.
b. The research problem includes 3, namely what, why and how which we know that
qualitative research is very good if the 3 questions can be described in the
research analysis data. These are the research problems of this research
1. What types of speech functions were used by the Indonesian teachers in
classroom interaction?
2. How were the speech functions used by the Indonesian teachers realized in
classroom interaction?
3. Why were the speech functions used by the Indonesian teachers realized the
way they are?
c. The purpose of the research is related to the research problem, namely what: to
find out, how: to describe, why: to explain.
d. The researcher has limited research according to the research title.
e. From the significance of the study, the researcher have mentioned the usefulness
of research both theoretically and practically, which is theoretically useful for
expanding knowledge in the field of knowledge and in practically terms it is
useful for teachers, students and other researchers.
b. Review of Literature
a. In this chapter the researcher describes one by one the theory of speech function
and theories related to the research title in detail so that readers can find the
relevance of the title and theory in this study.
b. In qualitative research, besides the researcher has correctly put the theories
related to the research title and also shows the previous research to the reader as
a comparison with this research.
c. The conceptual framework is described by the researcher in full so that the reader
can find out the purpose of the researcher in conducting the research.
c. Research Methodology
a. In the research design, the researcher was right to use qualitative methods in his
research.
b. In the data and data sources, it is clear that the data used by the researcher and
where the data sources were obtained by the researcher.
c. The participants of this study were Indonesian teachers utterances in classroom
interactions of the elementary school.
d. The Instrument of collecting the data the researcher used audio recorder and
observation sheet.
e. The researcher use the data collection as proposed by Miles and Huberman
(1992) that activity in qualitative data analysis. It is in accordance with the
research context.
d. Data Analysis, Findings and Discussion

a. The researcher clearly describes the results of his research by showing the data
one by one to the reader where in qualitative research the researcher must
mention the data and make a narrative of the data as an explanation.
b. The findings showed that the types of speech functions found in teacher
utterances in classroom interactions are statement, question, command, offer,
and minor. In which statement was dominantly used by teachers in the
interactions with the students, followed by question, command, offer and minor.
c. In the findings, the researcher has explained the results of his findings by
including a table that contains the types of speech function and found the most
dominant by describing the results after placing the table to clarify his research.
d. In the discussion section the researcher has explained the existing design in the
conceptual framework of how the research will run from beginning to end by
including theories related to research.

5. Conclusion and Suggestion

a. The researcher has answered 3 questions in the research problem with 3, namely what,
how and why by making 3 conclusions.
b. The researcher contribute their research to speakers who use a speech function,
researchers also respect readers to pay attention to the rules of communication, how they
communicate well and researchers provide input to LTBI students to conduct research in
the same field, the type of analysis is different. This is great at encouraging prospective
researchers to do different experiments.
6. References
In the reference, the researcher has followed the rules, for example there is consistency
in laying out the year, not using brackets from start to finish, then in alphabetical order
A-Z and the researcher has revitalized the research source not only from journals but
involves several books to strengthen his research.
