Dear Rattlers:
‘The FAMU community is extremely concemed as we face unprecedented times in our nation’s
history. The administration has learned of the potential for armed protests in many of our
nation’s capitols on Sunday, January 17, 2021. These gatherings could serve as super spreader
events and could put members of the FAMU community in physical danger. We would like to
take this opportunity to inform you about our plans to safeguard our campus.
For safety reasons, we ask faculty, stall, and students to reftain from visiting or traveling near
any state capitol on January 17, 2021. In the event the protest extends to the campus, students
will be notified via email (FAMU Info) and text message (Blackboard Connect). Students are to
remain in theirrooms with doors closed and locked
‘Th: FAMU Police Department has taken presautionary measures by increasing officer presence
as well as collaborating with city, county, state and federal law enforeement agencies.
Please do not engage with protesters. Report any suspicious or violeat behavior on campus to
the FAMU Police Department at 850-599-3256 or any local law enforcement authority in your
community. We must all do our part to ensure a safe campus. Thanks for your cooperation, and
stay sale.
Rattler Regards,
Detojl_.
