The administration has learned of the potential for armed protests in many of our nation’s capitols on Sunday, January 17, 2021. These gatherings could serve as super spreader events and could put members of the FAMU community in physical danger. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about our plans to safeguard our campus. For safety reasons, we ask faculty, stall, and students to reftain from visiting or traveling near any state capitol on January 17, 2021. In the event the protest extends to the campus, students will be notified via email (FAMU Info) and text message (Blackboard Connect). Students are to remain in theirrooms with doors closed and locked ‘Th: FAMU Police Department has taken presautionary measures by increasing officer presence as well as collaborating with city, county, state and federal law enforeement agencies. Please do not engage with protesters. Report any suspicious or violeat behavior on campus to the FAMU Police Department at 850-599-3256 or any local law enforcement authority in your community.
