[6] Driver installation procedure after re-installing Windows XP Professional
After installing Windows XP Professional to the Unit, install the various drivers of the Open
CNC. These drivers are stored in the “Open CNC Drivers Disk (A08B-0084-K790)”.
In this section, the procedures for installing the following drivers are described.
1. Ethernet Driver
2. High Speed Serial Bus(HSSB) Driver
3. Touch panel Driver
4. MDI key Driver
I. Ethernet Driver
1. Driver installation
1. Set the “Open CNC Drivers Disk” onto the CD-ROM drive.
As [FANUC Drivers Disk (D:)] dialog window appears, click [Cancel]
button.
2. Press [start] button, point [My Computer] and then right-click it. Click
[Properties] on the pop up menu.
3. Click [Hardware] tab at [System Properties] window and click [Device
Manager...] button.
4. Right-click the [Ethernet Controller] under [Other devices] and then click
[Update Driver...] on the pop up menu.
5. Confirm that “Install the software automatically (Recommended)” is
selected at [Hardware Update Wizard], and then click [Next] button.
6. Wait for a while. The dialog window, “Please select the best match for
your hardware from the list below.” appears. As 2 items are shown,
select the item that [d:\intelchipsetdriver\lan\xp\neti557x.inf] is
displayed at [Location] and then click [Next] button.
7. Click [Finish] button.
The Unit has High Speed Serial Bus (HSSB) Type 2 interface internally. PC part I/O port
address used at the HSSB interface is decided automatically when the driver is installed.
Each CNC which has HSSB interface is given “Node” number and distinguished by node
numbers in Windows. This is based on the design of HSSB multi-connection, i.e. one Unit
connects with multiple CNCs via HSSB, and it is also true for the Unit which has only one
HSSB interface (its node number equals to 0).
In case that the Unit is configured as the HSSB multi-connection using the PCI extension unit,
the Node number is assigned as 0 for the optical socket mounted on the PCB of the Unit, and
then 1, 2, ... for PCI HSSB board according to the order of the PCI slot number.
