This document presents two case studies for selecting interior floor fill beams for steel building bays. For a 30ft bay, a W16x26 beam is selected that meets requirements for factored moment capacity, local conditions, web capacity, and live load deflection. For a 36ft bay, the same W16x26 beam is selected and also meets all requirements. Deflection governs the design in both cases. Total cost for the 36ft bay design is estimated at $912.60.
