1 Thess 3:6
Scripture "But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and
charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we
also to see you:"
First Thessalonians expresses Paul's thanks for Timothy's good news regarding the
Observation Thessalonian believers. They showed faith and love and remembered Paul kindly. Also,
they wanted to see him again, just as he wanted to see them. This good report cheered
Paul in the midst of his trials. The fact that the believers were standing firm in the Lord
gave Paul a new lease on life. He felt that he could not thank God enough for all the joy
news of the Thessalonians' resolute faith and love had brought him. He was praying
consistently both night and day that God would enable him to see the Thessalonians again.
He was sure his visit would make it possible for him to nurture their young faith.
the Thessalonians for their faithfulness and prays for their continual growth.
Application

Heavenly Father, thanks You for the amazing truth in this little verse of Scripture that by
Prayer grace through faith we are positioned in God the Father and also in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank You that we are safe in Your hand and that nothing in heaven above or the earth
beneath can separate us from the love of God which is ours by faith in Christ Jesus our
Lord. Thank You that I have peace with God through faith in Christ and access to the peace
of God in my heart. Thank You for the lives and faithful witness of Paul, Silas and Timothy
and I pray that I would fulfil Your will for my life in Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

January 11 (Monday)
1 Thess 4:5
Scripture not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;

As he is drawing his letter to a close, Paul gives some practical instructions on life and
Observation living. The Thessalonians were new believers who needed encouragement to stand firm in
the faith. Like all believers, they needed instruction in Christian virtue and godly morality.
In this passage, Paul reminds all of us how to walk in a way that pleases the Lord, "not in
lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God." Having been saved by grace
through faith in Christ, we are to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. Having been born
from above, we are to live in a way that pleases our Heavenly Father, rather than
ourselves.

As we keep the eyes of our heart upon Jesus, abide in the Lord moment by moment and
Application align our mind to the mind of Christ, the less attractive and alluring the things of this world
will become.

Heavenly Father, I praise and thank You for the many truths contained in the Scripture and
Prayer the many lessons You want to teach me through the epistles of Paul and the other apostles
of Christ. Give me ears that are willing to hear Your voice, eyes to see what You want me to
see, and a teachable heart that is open to the challenges You give me. I confess, there
have been times when I have left my first love and strayed back into the ways of the world.
I pray that You would search my heart and cleanse me within, and keep me walking on the
road of righteousness, for His name's sake, AMEN.

1 Thess 5:3
Scripture "For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as
travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape."
First Thessalonians informs believers about the day of the Lord. This phrase refers both to
Observation the moment of the rapture as well as the seven-year tribulation period that follows the
rapture. The passage assures us that believers will not experience the tribulation. The day
of the Lord will commence unexpectedly, like the arrival of a thief at night. It is described
as a time of darkness with dreadful consequences. Unbelievers, identified as those who
belong to the night, will be overtaken by destruction. But believers are, symbolically, of the
day not the night. They are not the objects of God's wrath, but are destined to receive a
full rescue from the day of God's wrath. In view of their exemption from the day of the
Lord, believers ought to encourage and edify one another.
Unbelievers will not be able to avoid that horrific time. There will be no escape.
Application

Father, thank You that we who have trusted Jesus as Saviour are not appointed to wrath
Prayer but to be rescued from the time of tribulation that will come on an unsuspecting world as a
thief in the night. May I be ready and prepared for that glorious day when Christ comes to
rescue His bride, and takes us to be with Himself into heaven, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

2 Thess 1:8
Scripture "In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our
Lord Jesus Christ:"
Second Thessalonian refers to the Thessalonians' trials as evidence that God is righteous
Observation and just. Paul indicates that the Thessalonians' faith and endurance would prove their
status as inheritors of God's kingdom. Further, Paul assures his readers that God will
avenge those who troubled the Thessalonians, giving the persecuted ones relief. When
Jesus returns with His angels, He will inflict flaming fire on those who do not know God and
on those who heard the gospel but rejected it. Their punishment will include eternal ruin
and separation from God. When Jesus returns, those who have believed in Him will share
in Jesus' glory and will marvel at Him. This look into the future was meant to help the
Thessalonians continue to be steadfast under persecution and trouble. Paul prays that God
would enable his readers to live successfully and worthy of their calling.
Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all
Application and to convict all the ungodly of their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in
such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against
him."
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which teaches the truth. Help me to read the
Prayer Scriptures with a teachable spirit, and prevent me from being manipulated into any
incorrect interpretation, by false teachings or unbiblical doctrines that cause me to lose the
peace of God in my heart, which Jesus has promised to all who trust in Him. I pray that as
we face these increasingly difficult times, I will patiently endure the trials and tribulations I
may be called upon to endure, for Christ's sake. Help me to stand fast in the faith, to pray
without ceasing, to rejoice in the Lord always, and in everything to give You thanks and
praise. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
January 14 (Thursday)
2 Thess 2:5
Scripture Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?

While the first chapter of this epistle gives a broad overview of coming, prophetic events,
Observation chapter 2 goes into greater detail about the coming Day of the Lord. It begins with Paul
having to correct certain doctrinal misunderstandings, which caused them great concern.

Paul had already taught about the Day of the Lord, during his brief visit to Thessalonica,
but the truth had been distorted by a hoax letter they thought had come from him... which
made false statements about the Great Tribulation and the antichrist. It caused these
believers to fear that the Day of the Lord had already started and that the antichrist was in
their midst.. without the promised resurrection of Church-age saints and the rapture of
living believers having taken place.. as Paul had originally taught them.

Too many Christians are unaware of the truth of the coming Day of the Lord and do not
Application take to heart the whole counsel of God.

Heavenly Father, thank You that by faith in Christ I am not appointed to wrath because
Prayer Jesus took the punishment for my sin, in His body on the tree. Thank You that You have
given us history in advance so that we do not fear as the lost who have no hope of eternal
life, but have confidence in Your word. Thank You that all that You have purposed for us
will certainly come to pass and we praise You for the blessed hope we have in Christ. May I
be ever watching and waiting expectantly for the return of the Lord Jesus to resurrect His
dead and rapture all living believers - for which we praise and thank You in Jesus' name.
AMEN.

January 15 (Friday)
2 Thess 3:6
Scripture Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away
from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you
received from us.

The truth of the gospel of Christ is equally under attack today as it was in the days of the
Observation apostle Paul. Most of his epistles include sections that address various false teachings that
were infiltrating a particular church or congregation, as well as providing clear teaching,
sound doctrine important correction and great encouragement.

In this letter Paul had to remind the believers of his earlier teaching on the return of Christ
for His Church and how we will all be gathered together to meet Him in the air, before the
great and terrible "Day of the Lord". These believers had been upset by members of their
own congregation who contradicted Paul's teaching, leaving them confused and disturbed.

What a lesson this is to all of us to avoid being influenced by lazy gossips, false teachers or
Application unbiblical doctrines. May we be disciplined in our Christian life and strive to live godly in
Christ Jesus.

Heavenly Father, how important it is to be established in the truth and I recognise that
Prayer there are many times in my life when I have been adversely influenced by gossips or busy-
bodies. Help me to be disciplined in my Christian life and to refuse to engage in idle
chatter, which can be so destructive in a Church community and so quickly tarnishes the
witness of those engaged in it. I pray that I may labour ceaselessly in sharing the good
news of the gospel of Christ, in word and in deed and I pray that I may live an honourable
and fruitful life for Your greater praise and glory - this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
January 16 (Saturday)
1 Timothy 1:2
Scripture To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and
Christ Jesus our Lord.

This letter is written personally to Timothy, whom Paul addressed as "my true son in the
Observation faith". Timothy was not Paul's physical offspring, but was either led to faith in Christ Jesus
by Paul personally, when he visited Lystra, or had been nurtured and discipled by the older
apostle. Timothy was a man who knew the scriptures well, having been taught them, from
infancy, by his grandmother Lois, and mother Eunice.. as well as accompanying Paul on
some of his missionary exploits.

Grace, mercy and peace is our present possession from God our Father - Who sent His
Application only begotten Son to be the sacrifice for our sin... but we also are given grace, mercy and
peace from the Lord Jesus Christ, Who loved the church so dearly that He gave Himself for
her.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace, mercy and peace, which you have bestowed on
Prayer all Your children who walk in humility of heart, gentleness of spirit and desire a knowledge
of the truth. Thank You that I am Your child, through faith in Christ Jesus my Lord and I pray
that my faith would be strengthened and perfected as I die to self and live for Christ alone.
Thank You for the ministry of Paul and the other apostles of Christ and help me to stand
fast in the evil day and grow in grace and in a knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus
Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.
