1. SAKSHI (JAIPUR INDIA)

Established in 1998 is dealing in Hand block printing and Blue pottery. The name of the firm is
Jaipur India is a exporter, manufacturer, supplier and trading company. They also provide
training and encourage research work related to these art forms. The marketing strategy they use
is advertisement in travel magazines, different websites. They are in Lonely Planet, and other
travel magazines of different countries like Japan. They also conduct international workshops for
Hand block printing and Blue pottery.

Almost 250 artisans work in hand block printing earning Rs 250- 300/ day.

Blue pottery has 8 to 10 artisans earning Rs 150 to 200/ day.

2. SRS (Student Relief Society)

The SRS is non-political, non-profit and secular organization which was formed in 2 nd Oct 1978
by 27 youths.

Major focus areas are Health, Education, Women Empowerment, Energy conservation, Drought
mitigation, Environment sanitation, and Microfinance. It is working in 11 districts of Rajasthan
which are Jaipur, Bundi, Tonk, Alwar, Nagaur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Sikar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur,
and Barmer covering 687 villages.

Funding agencies are USAID, UNICEF, UNFPA, World Bank, Central Govt. and State Govt.
etc.

Other Initiatives of SRS

In 81 villages of Barmer SRS is working on empowerment of the people.

In Nagaur they are working in NRHM.

In Chittorgarh they are working in Health issues with the youth groups

3. Apani Dhani, Nawalgarh


Apani Dhani a venture of Mr. Ramesh C. Jangid was unique initiation about 20 years back with
the aim of promoting responsible sustainable tourism based on three main goals.

i) To minimize the impact of tourism on natural resources.


ii) To promote socially and economically responsible tourism.
iii) To protect the local heritage and culture.
This eco-resort is located at Nawalgarh. The resort has 8 huts two of them are air conditioned
and also tents. Apart from the cottages most of the setup and activities organized by the
management is centered on their theme of supporting responsible tourism. It has its own organic
farm, partial solar generation units, dairy farm. The organization support local NGOs at different
suitable projects and also the head Shekhawati chapter of INTACH. 5% percent of the revenue
is spend on projects of the NGOs. Some of the projects supported by Apani Dhani are

1. Financial support to the School for differently able Children and also to the School for
children of economical weaker sections. These projects are materialized through the
NGO Samarpan.
2. Water harvesting, waste management and recycling
3. Plantations
4. Heritage education workshops for local school teachers
5. Seminars and workshops for local artisans to conserve the murals of the region.
6. Photo exhibitions and painting competition for local school children.

 Interested person can also do the site visiting of various projects which the oragnisation is
supporting

4. Sewa Joyti
Sewajyoti is founded by Sh. G.R. Morarka, a noted industrialist; Chairman and Managing
Director of Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited. Sewa Jyoti has been conducting various
activities in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district for the past many years.

Some of the projects of the organizations are

1. Shekhawati handicraft and tourism fair


2. Polio correction Camp
3. Vocational training program for Women
4. Free Health check ups
5. Artisan Credit Cards
6. Rehabilitation centre at Nawalgarh with the cooperation of Pt. Deen Dayal Sewa
Sansthan, New Delhi to provide required assistance to physically challenged people.

Currently the Organisation is focusing on the handicrafts at Nawalgarh to promote the art and
craft of the region and helping artisans to get better economical benefits. It is organization
various training sessions at the village for the women artisans and young females to develop their
skill at art forms like Lacquer bangle making, thread work, gotta patti etc. The artisans get
stipend of Rs. 5/hour during the training and after that they can earn 150-200/day depending on
the level of skill they developed. During the training the material is provided by the organization.
The organization is also providing the market linkage for finished products.

The focus of the organization is on increasing the margins earn by the artisan as they are the
most important link at the value chain of the products. The raw material and designed mainly
kept traditional rural, due to their ecological and social benefit. Looking at the scale of the
business of Badhej work at the region the organization also takes order of tying for the female
artists back at the villages and take only minimal operational charge.

Looking at the experience of the organization at handicraft sector at Nawalgarh and also hold
and trust of organization at local artisans it will be a good opportunity to link up with it for the
art and craft theme. The organization can not only conduct the workshop but can also provide
value addition to the package by field/village visit and interactions with artisans.

5. Corbett Gram Vikas Samiti

Corbett Village Eco-Tour is an endeavor of Corbett Gram Vikas Samiti (CGVS) towards
Community Based Tourism. Corbett Gram Vikas Samiti is a non-profit organization registered in
the year 2004 under Societies Registration Act, 1860. CGVS is a group of nature enthusiasts who
intend to conserve natural resources through various livelihood interventions. Since its inception
in the year 2004, CGVS is focusing on various aspects of Community Based Tourism in Jim
Corbett's Village-Chhoti Haldwani. The organization is providing an additional source of income
to the local community through its various interventions and thus weaning them away from their
forest based livelihood. Eventually CGVS is contributing in reducing human pressure on forests,
conservation of local culture as well as flora and fauna of this region. The organization shares its
revenue in to 85% and 15% proportion, 15% is utilized at operational part of the initiation and
other 85% is kept for community development, development of new tourism opportunities,
services and infrastructures at the village.
