 Introduction

A DSS can be considered a class of computerized information system that support

business and organizational decision-making activities. A properly designed DSS is,
typically, an interactive software-based system intended to help decision maker
extract useful information from raw data, documents, personal knowledge, and / or
business model to identify and solve problems and take decisions.

Advantages of DSS

1. Helps in saving time: Research has demonstrated that decision support systems
help to reduce decision cycle time for an organization. DSS provides timely
information, which is then used for decision making and results in enhanced
employee productivity.

2. Improves efficiency: Another advantage of DSS is efficient decision making,

resulting in better decisions. This is because use of DSS results in quick
transfer of information, better data analyses, thus resulting in efficient
decisions.

3. Boosts up interpersonal communication: Use of DSS in an organization

helps to improve interpersonal communication between same level
of employees and between management and employees.

4. Provides competitive advantage: Use of decision support system in an

organization provides a competitive advantage over other organizations which
do not use DSS.

5. Helps in reducing cost: Research and case studies reveal that use of DSS in an
organization helps in making quicker decisions and reduce cost.

6. High satisfaction among decision makers: In DSS computers and latest

technology aids the decision making process. It thus results in higher
satisfaction among decision makers, reduces frustrations among them, and
form perceptions that superior information is being used. They gain a
confidence and satisfaction that they are good decision makers.

7. Supports learning: The use of DSS in an organization results in two type of

learning. First managers themselves learn new concepts. Secondly, there is
better factual understanding of business as well as the decision making
environment.
 8. Enhanced organizational control: Due to the use of DSS business transaction
data is easily available for monitoring the performance of employees and ad
hoc querying. It thus leads to enhanced understanding of business operations
for the management.

Background:

Lanterns Restaurant is one of the best high profile Indian restaurants in Bahrain. And
it was inaugurated in 1988, this exclusive high profile restaurant with its striking
design of age-old traditional set-up and casual atmosphere makes it a mystically
beautiful and interesting place to dine – reflecting the moods and colour of India.
This fully licensed restaurant provides live entertainment in the evenings and ranks
among the best in Bahrain.

In this project we are going to develop different models to enhance the business
situation of the company.

Purpose

The purpose of our project is simple to define it, but a little difficult to implement it.
 Minimize the cost.
 Maximize the profit.

Objectives

The objective of our project is to use a several models to provide certain information
for the managers and the top management level to help them to take and make a
decision in term of develop the business.
These models are:

1. Exponential Smoothing: This model was used because of the trend which
was clear it decreasing

2. Risk Analysis: To cover the uncertain thing that may happen

3. Simulation: covers situation where it is only the dynamic behavior of the
local scenario that is really of interest, and it is the uncertainty that gives rise
to the issues.

4. Learning Curve: It helps the manager know how easily and quickly can his
employees learn to create a unit of product.

5. Inventory: It determines how much of each item should be kept, when low
items should be replenished, and how many items should be ordered or made
when replenishment is needed.

In the end, the grace of God we have to finish of the project and it has benefited a lot
of things and learned new things and also has encountered some difficulties.

Benefits:

Work as a team and gain experience from the rest of the members.

Lesson – Learned:

1. Learn Excel program is sophisticated and know a lot of equations that can help
solve.

Problems:

1. The main problem is the not enough time to complete the work and present the
best possible picture.
2. Lack of experience in dealing with some assistance programs.
