HISTORY OF THE SONG

"Jingle Bells" is one of the best-known and commonly sung (dainuojamų) American

songs in the world. It was written by James Lord Pierpont (1822–1893) and
published under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh" in the autumn of 1857.

It has been claimed (teigiama) that it was originally written (parašyta) to be sung by
a Sunday school choir (sekmadieninės mokyklos choras), or as a drinking song
(užstalės daina).  

Although (nors) it has no original connection (sąsaja) to Christmas, it became

associated (siejamas) with Christmas music and the holiday season (šventinis
laikotarpis) in general decades (dešimtmečiai) after it was first performed (atlikta)
by Johnny Pell in Ordway Hall on September 16, 1857.

Dashing through (skrosdami) the snow

On a one horse open sleigh (rogėmis)
O'er the fields we go,
Laughing all the way

The bells (varpeliai) on bob tail (užapvalinta uodega) ring (skamba),
