Radiator - coolant level
I
I Hydraulic oil tank O1eck the oil level when the roller is standing on a

I The oil level should be between the FULL and LDW
marks on the sight glass
I If the oil level is close to ~V, fill up with fresh
oil to the FULL marks.
I Fill up with type "C" oil as described under "Lubri-

and renovs the outer cover.

Sooty and filter
I
If the filter elerrent is sooty and/or oily it
I should be washed in a solution of water and a
non-sudsing detergent such as "Dona.l.dson D-1400':
I filter.
If dust has passed through the filter this
I will be indicated by deposit is of dust on
the inside of the engine induction pipe.

7 Wipe the inside of the filter housing clean

with a clean rag.

8 Check that the connections between the filter
housing and engine are intact and tight. I
9 Check that the filter element is intact before
fitting it in place.

Cracks or holes in the filter paper can be
detected by holding a JJCM'erful electric light

bulb approx. 200W - inside the filter element.
Switch on light and inspect the filter paper
I

Cracks and holes will be plainly visible as
light spots or lines.
I
Rerrove the filler cap and check that the
I breather holes are not clogged.
If necessary, wash the filler cap in
I hydraulic oil or diesel fuel and blow i t dry
with compressed air.

3 RenDve the cell plugs and check that the

level of the electrolyte is approx.10 mm
above the plates.

CAUTION ! I
Never use a naked flame when inspecting
the electrolyte level. Explosive gas is
I
fonned in the battery during charging.

Make sure that nobody is around the steering
hitch while the engine is running. They

might get crushed i f the steering system is
operated.

Changing the engine oil and the oil filters I
1. Thoroughly warm up the engine before draining
the oil.
I
Impurities in the lubricating system will then
be well-mixed with the oil and will be carried
I
out with it. Furthenmre, the oil f'l.cws rrore
readily when it is hot.
I
2. Clean the areaaround the oil filler cap (1) I
and then remove it.

3. Clean the area around the drain plug (1) and
then place a receptacle beneath the plug. I
This receptacle should hold at least 15 litres

4. Rerrove the drain plug and allow the oil to
run out into the receptacle.

EMERGENCY BRAKE-ADJUSTIJIG

The emergency brake is controlled by buttom
located. on the dash board right hand side.
A light will come on whenever the buttom is

depressed. The brake is applid:

1. Drive the roller onto a level surface until I

2. Back off the level plug and check that the
oil reaches up to the plug hole.

If the oil level is low, top up via the
level plug to the correct level.

1. Make sure that the roller is standing on
level surface.

2. Back off the level plug (1) and check that

the oil reaches up to the plug hole.

3. Smear the seals of the new filter with a
thin layer of clean hydraulic oil.

4. Screw the filters in place by hand.

3. Operate the hand pump (1) until the fuel
emerging at the bleed screw is completely
free of air bubbles and runs out in a

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM-OIL CHANGING
Change the oil in the hydraulic system when it is
hot-at the end of a workshift, for example. I

be carried out with the oil when it is drained.

If rags or brushes are used they must be
completely clean and free fram dust.

NJTE: If the tank is rinsed with hydraulic
oil, all conections in the bottom of
the tank must be plugged to prevent

impurities entering the hydraulic lines.

3. Place a receptacle under the drain plug (2).
The receptacle should hold about five litres.

NOTE: The drain plug is magnetic and attracts
any iron particles in the oil. I
7. Fit the drain plug back in place when all the
oil has run out.

8. Back off the level plug a few turns. I
There is a level plug on each side of the
housing. It is only necessary to back off one
of the plugs.

9. Fill up with oil until it oozes out at the level

plug. Fill up with type "D" oil as described un
