Introduction

The Professional Review is the final step in becoming an ICE Member after demonstrating you have
the necessary underpinning knowledge and understanding (educational base) and that you have
completed your Initial Professional Development (IPD). It is an opportunity to demonstrate you have
the professional competence and commitment that is required to become a Member of ICE.

The Member Professional Review (MPR) allows registration as an Incorporated Engineer with the
postnominals IEng MICE, while the Chartered Professional Review (CPR) and the Chartered
Professional Review Progressive (CPRP) allow registration as a Chartered Engineer with the
postnominals CEng MICE.

You’ll be assessed by two peer reviewers at your Professional Review and, to be successful, they
must agree that you have met all the ICE attributes for the relevant registration level. The attributes
are listed in Appendix A.

The Professional Review process comprises the following steps:

▪ An initial application
▪ Support from three sponsors

▪ Your Professional Review submission

▪ Professional Review consisting of:

o Presentation
o Interview
o Written exercise
This document provides detailed guidance for all steps of the process. See making your application
below.

If you have any queries about the process, please contact the Professional Reviews team on +44

Application deadlines and review dates

Professional review dates and application deadlines can be found here. The majority of reviews are
taking place online at present, but ICE will look to support candidates who have a need or a strong
preference for their review to take place at a physical venue when it is safe to do so. When you
apply, you can specify if you wish to have an online review, wait for a review at a physical venue or
that you are happy with either option. Please note that opting for a physical venue only could delay
the date of your review depending on social distancing restrictions.

Full details of the online review process can be found in our online review guidance.
