Rabeprazole
Rabeprazole is a selective inhibitor of the Proton-Pump Inhibitor, which
is useful in reducing stomach acid and in treating peptic ulcers and
gastritis.

How the drug works


 Proton pumps were found on the cells that line the stomach, as they
are used by these cells to produce stomach acid. Rabeprazole works
by inhibiting the action of proton pumps, which reduces the
production of stomach acid, and then the amount of acid in the
stomach and duodenum.
 Rabeprazole stops the flow of acid reflux into the esophagus and can
be used to relieve and recover symptoms associated with reflux or
esophageal reflux. It also allows the recovery from peptic ulcers .
 Rabeprazole is also given with antibiotics to help eliminate a type
of bacterium called portal gastric distress in people with peptic
ulcers. These germs can contribute to peptic ulcers . This drug
allows the ulcer to heal, and helps create an environment in the gut
that enables antibiotics to be more effective in killing those germs.

Reasons for using the medication
 This medicine is used to prevent or treat gastrointestinal ulcers
caused by microbial infection.
 This medicine is used to treat reflux disease or gastro-oesophageal
reflux .
 This medicine is used to treat heartburn (stomach mouth).
 This medicine is used to treat gastric hyperacidity syndromes.

Contraindications to the drug


 If the patient has an allergy to ribazole or any other component of
this medicine.
 The health care provider should be informed if the patient has an
allergy to any other drug.
 Be sure to report the allergic reaction that affected the patient and
how he affected it. This includes detection of a rash, blisters, itchy
skin, shortness of breath, wheezing at inhale, coughing, swelling of
the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or any other symptoms associated
with the use of the medicine.

The ideal way to use the medicine


 This medicine should be taken regularly during the same day.
 This medicine should be taken 30 minutes before meals.
 The tablet should be swallowed whole, without chewing, breaking,
crushing, or grinding it.

Interaction of the drug with food
 This medicine should be taken 30 minutes before meals, because
food will delay the absorption of this medicine.
 The tablet should be swallowed whole, without chewing, breaking,
crushing, or grinding it.
 Alcoholic beverages should be avoided.
 Avoid eating caffeine, which is found in tea, coffee, and cola, for
example, as well as in chocolate.

Interaction of the drug with other drugs


 Reduces the effect of rabeprazole ampicillin ampicillin and
derivatives of iron and Alatrakunasul itraconazole and ketoconazole
ketoconazole and fluconazole fluconazole , because the absorption
of these drugs depends on the presence of gastric acid, and this
is what Iqllah medicine. Therefore, none of them should be used
with the medicine.
 Causing rabeprazole increase in the therapeutic effect of both
diazepam diazepam (sedative and sedative) and phenytoin
phenytoin(an anti-epileptic and disorder of heart) systems and
propranolol propranolol ( a drug - blocker receptor beta) and
theophylline Taofelin (Extended bronchiorum) and anticoagulants
and warfarin and warfarin (medicine inhibitor for blood clotting).
Therefore, care should be taken with close attention in patients
taking these medications to prevent complications.
 Should not eat rabeprazole Rabeprazole with protease inhibitors
, protease inhibitors that address the infection with HIV , such
as Alombrenawer Amprenavir and Alotazanavir atazanavir and
lopinavir lopinavir and ritonavir ritonavir ... etc., because it changes
the level of blood, only after consulting your doctor.

What do I do if overdue a dose?
 You must use the missed dose as soon as possible.
 If it is time for the next dose, it is not permissible to use the missed
dose, but the usual regular schedule appointments are followed.
 You should avoid double or extra doses.
 The dose may not be changed or the use of the medicine may be
stopped only after consulting the health care provider.

Precautions to take when using this medicine


 Other medicines should be reviewed with your health care provider,
as this medicine may not mix well with other medicines.
 Alcoholic drinks should be avoided.
 Reducing the caffeine intake that is found, for example, in tea,
coffee and cola, as well as chocolate; If the patient takes these things
with this medicine, he may feel very nervous, shivering and fast
heartbeats.
 The health care provider must be informed of a pregnant woman or
a woman planning to become pregnant.

Side effects
Diarrhea .

What one must monitor when using this medicine?


 Change in treatment status: has there been improvement? Did the
situation got worse or did not change at all?
 Follow-up constantly, and consult a health care provider.

Reasons to call the health care provider (doctor) immediately
 When in doubt about an overdose, contact the Drug Information
Center and local toxins or doctor immediately.
 Signs of a serious reaction to life, including wheezing and
breathlessness in the chest, fever, itching, severe cough, bluish
skin color, epileptic seizures, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue,
or throat.
 Severe dizziness, or loss of consciousness.
 Unusual bruising or bleeding.
 No improvement in condition or feeling that it gets worse.

Drug store
• Saves the medicine at room temperature.
• The tablets are kept out of moisture and not stored in the
bathroom or kitchen.

General Guidelines
• If the patient suffers from an allergy that represents a danger to the
patient’s life, he must wear a bracelet or carry a card indicating this
allergy throughout.
• The patient may not share the drug with others, and it is not
permissible to take another person's medicine.
• you must keep this medication away from childrens.
• The patient must keep a list of his medications (prescription for the
drug, natural products, nutritional supplements, vitamins and
medicines that are dispensed without a prescription), and give this
list to the health care provider (physician, nurse, nurse practitioner.)
• Talk to your health care provider before you start taking any new
medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, natural products,
or vitamins .
