I am GOMAR RECEL V. TAN, your instructor for Stylistics and Discourse


Analysis. I am a graduate of a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in
English at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation. Likewise, I am
presently completing my Masters in Arts in Education major in English in the
same institution.

Please treat me as your friend and mentor, for I believe that teaching –
learning process would not be effective if there will be no mutual
understanding between the teacher and students. I always shower my
students with praises of their good deeds and make sure that our learning
encounters will be relevant and hilarious to avoid boredom. However, I insist
that trust, respect and cooperation will always be in our working
relationship.

Your grades are the fruits of your labor. Hence, it is vital that you should
be aware how your grades are being computed and sorted. With this thinking, I am transparent with how I
will compute your grades. However, bear in mind that we are only recording your accomplishments and tasks.
You are the one who are making your grades.

Since our subject has a medium of English, I am optimistic that you will try to do your best in
expressing your ideas and experiences in this language. I am not assuming that your grammar is flawless
since we are all second language learners in English. Yet using this language will help you attaint fluency and
familiarity.

As we both journey to this educational façade within a semester, we will both learn and discover
knowledge and theories. Feel free to ask questions if in any reason you don’t understand my instructions or
the discussions with our lectures. Asking questions is not a sign of stupidity, rather it is a symbol of
intelligence because being curious entails you to learn more and strive for more ideas. Lastly, I am a teacher,
but I am also human bounded with imperfections and limitations, but I am willing to improve for the benefit
of my students.
