Yingjia Royal Wine is a Chinese wine producer, well known for its An Hui Yingjia Distillery
range of white wine. In their wine storage facility, level measurement
for the wine tanks was carried out manually using a dip tape method
of level measurement. This procedure was carried out twice a month,
with an inspection time of approximately 60 minutes for each tank.
The company has a number of wine tanks, each of which had to be
checked, so the procedure was very time consuming. Another issue
was that the dip tape measurement was proving to be inaccurate.
A key concern was that the process required personnel to climb
the tanks to obtain the measurement and this involved safety risks,
particularly in bad weather.
As part of its process enhancement program, the company wanted
to automate their plant process and agreed that the wine tank level
measurement should be upgraded to a continuous, automated
measurement technology. Due to the number of tanks involved,
wireless technology was the most suitable solution for the application
due to ease of installation and lack of wiring.

SOLUTION
A total of 130 Rosemount™ 3308 Guided Wave Radar Wireless Level Rosemount 3308 Wireless Non-Contacting Radar Level
Transmitters were installed on each of the wine storage tanks, along Transmitter installed on a wine tank
with four Emerson 1420 Wireless Gateways. Installation was quick and
easy since no wiring work was required, considerably reducing the
overall project time.
The automated system provided Yingjia with continuous, accurate,
and reliable level measurement. They were able to save operation
costs, and personnel safety risk was minimized because there was no
need to climb the tanks for routine inspections.
