Introduction

University of Eastern Pangasinan is one of the youngest universities in entire Pangasinan which started
on 2005. The first ten to eleven years of its operation and the number of enrollments every year
increases. They are using manual system of application for college entrance examination for aspiring
students of the said university both new students and transferees.

The office that handles this transaction is the Office of Student Affairs which collect documents and
information about the students such as good moral character, report card, copy of transfer credentials
and the application form for entrance examination.

Recently, in the academic year 2018-2019, the UEP’s Office of Students Affairs processed student
applications of more than one thousand five hundred (1500) new students and transferees. The office
has only two workforces to work with all these application forms to check, validate and approve and
aside from that they also some other jobs related to their designation. Then after that they are going to
schedule the students per batch on their entrance examination date.

With the recent situation that brought us to new normal and the rise of online engagement of people,
especially students, we came across with the proposal that will enable the new and transferee students
to still make transactions with UEP even without going personally in the OSA (Office of Student Affairs)

The Online Application for College Admission Examination for University of Eastern Pangasinan will help
both the students and the people in OSA to efficiently and effectively process the application of each
student as it will automate the checking and validation of each application. This will help reduce also the
processing time and manual checking and scheduling of available slots of examination schedule for each
student as this will be done by system.

For students who are not allowed to go outside or maybe far from the school can simply send and
application in the comfort of their home with the use of their desktop pc, laptop or even mobile devices.
After sending the application student just need to wait for 24 hours for the confirmation message that
will be sent to the registered email address they provided.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This project is about creating a system for UEP to manage application process for the aspiring students
of the said school. This system is a great help for the following:

Office of Student Affairs: The office of student affairs is not only focused on receiving application for
new students of the university but they also some other task related to student concerns. It would be a
great help if there is an automated way of collecting information via the use of Online Application. Not
only it will speed up the process but it will also benefit from other features that will also address the
problems encountered in the manual system of application filing.
Student Applicants/Aspiring Students: Nowadays, internet is very useful and every single person has
their own smartphone. Student applicant no longer needed to visit the university just to apply for the
entrance examination. With the use of the internet, they just need the link so they will be redirected to
the page. In this way, student no need to spend money to commute and also, they can do the
application by just staying the house.

Guest Users: Most of the time, the OSA has one or more OJT, they can be the guest users who are
restricted to do some management about the information provided by the applicants. With the user of
search option in the system, it will be easier for the guest users to retrieve records, or check schedules,
and the like, and they can also make use of the system to generate some report permitted by the
administrator.

Developer: It broadens the experience developer, and it gives more practical solution to some
procedural problems of some processes. It also helps to further nurture the way the developer solves
technical problems.

Company profile:

It all started in 2005 when the University of Eastern Pangasinan was formally established in the
municipality. At first, its existence was only a dissertation paper presented by Dr. Ramon V. Guico III to
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Speaker Jose de Venecia, Ramon N. Guico Jr., and town officials.

Since then, the dream of establishing a university for Binalonan came into reality. The municipal
leadership of Binalonan headed by Hon. Mayor Ramon N. Guico Jr., Vice-Mayor Myrna Bell C. Uy, the
honorable members of the Sangguniang Bayan – Atty. Francis Melville V. Tinio, Igmedio Larioza, Dr. Noel
Apolinario O. Bautista, Cesar Tomeldan Sr., Conrado Paul C. Ramos, Eduardo O. Boado, Domingo S.
Soriano Sr., Rafael J. Legaspi Sr., Jessie Libag Jr., and Hon. Member Danilo C. Uy were united to this
commitment of innovative and groundbreaking educational partnership.

With the support of World Citi President, Dr. Arlyn Grace V. Guico and Board Chairman Hon.
Mayor Ramon N. Guico Jr., the young educator envisioned to share his wealth of experiences in
academic leadership through the birth of a local university financed and sponsored by the municipal
government.

Thus, Ordinance No. 2005-007, “Establishing University of Eastern Pangasinan and for other
Purposes” was approved on December 9, 2005.

The climax of his exciting legislative work to lay the legal foundations of this new higher
education institution came from Resolution No. 239-2006 of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of
Pangasinan.

Hence, UEP was born and started operations in the upper “palengke” building of the Barangay
Poblacion.

Now, the UEP has metamorphosed into a modern structure in its new campus along McArthur
Highway, Brgy. Canarvacan, through the responsible leadership of Mayor Ramon V. Guico III.
