MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Feb. 26, 2019 – Today, Kelso Industries announces their plans to build a new
25-story office building in downtown Minneapolis. The estimated $40 million project is part of
downtown redevelopment movement to keep major corporations in the central city. The plan is for the
building to be the new headquarters for the company that is a manufacturer of building products and has
more than 100 hardware stores throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
Kelso Industries’ CEO, Debra Woods, spoke about her hopes for the future and said, “With the building
of our new headquarters, this company will be able to expand throughout the United States and reach as
many people as possible.”
The Minneapolis Redevelopment Agency is guaranteeing to finance the project, as well as, contribute $5
million to improve the area around the building site. This project will greatly help with the revival of the
downtown area as the many have hoped for.
Mayor George Keem is very enthusiastic about the prospects that the project will bring. “The city has
been hoping for something like this for a long time to bring us out of pit that we fell in to. Many people
are hopeful that with this project other companies will want to come to the city and help rebuild it as
well.”
The construction should be completed in 18 months and will bring many jobs for the locals in both
technology and manufacturing. Cindy Cain, a human resource representative from the company, spoke
