QUISTION: Is consensus a good way for groups to make decisions? Why or why not?

I think yes of course, because the goal is to create an understanding of the issues and then share the
perspectives of all involved. The group members are required to be cooperative and trust their group
members to reach consensus. It helps to develop mutual understanding among the members of the group.
Moreover, it also brings up creative ideas that help in-group decision making.

In addition to all I said up, I think that if groups want high-quality decisions they will try to understand
others opinions and be openness to different ideas moreover, they will invest time to create a proposal or
plan. Involving all members in the discussion and making decisions together is a powerful process.

QUISTION: Can you think of a time where a group of which you were part relied on consensus?
How do you think the decision turned out?

I remember when the Small business doctor in my university asked us (the class) to make groups
to do the final project about establishing a small company.
At first, we had a problem that all of us was convinced with his own idea and arguing about it. it
was a little bit hard in the beginning because every student in the group was trying to convince
the other with his idea and we were not listening to each other, but then when we organize the
meetings ,everyone had a chance to express and describe his idea with voting the best idea.
We done with choosing the best idea (it was an international online clothing store), we divided
the goal into smaller tasks and everyone had a task to do ,one to do the internet research and
other to do the logo , other to do the business role model etc…
As we more collaborated with each other as we more were happy with ending results, and yea it
was a GOOD EXPERIMENT
QUISTION: Martin Luther King Jr. once proclaimed, “A genuine leader is not a seeker of
consensus but a modeler of consensus.” What do you think he meant by that statement? Do you
agree with it? Why or why not?

Martin meant that a real the leader does not look for a way to have everyone's agreement but to
create a way to have everyone agree. Trying hard, working hard and managing can often be
confused with leading.

In my own words, I think he meant that the leader should spend effort and create ways to make
everyone really understand the idea and all will be convinced so the agreement would not be just
nominal.

So YES I agree with martins statement and I believe that leadership is about leading people and
creating a natural movement, not just providing answers.
