Smart Communications

Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is a wholly-owned wireless communications and

digital services subsidiary of PLDT, Inc., the Philippines’ largest and only integrated
telecommunications company. Smart serves approximately 95% of the country’s cities and
municipalities with its combined 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE network, providing mobile
communications services, high-speed internet connectivity, and access to digital services and
content to over 73.1 million Filipinos, through its commercial brands Smart,  TNT, and  Sun.
Smart also offers satellite communication services under the brand Smart World.
Technology is definitely used by Smart Communications; they cannot even operate
without the use of technology. Like what we always know, technology have been a really huge
help in everyone’s life. Smart Communications as one of the biggest telecommunications here in
the Philippines used technology to provide a great service to their customers. As they offer
different services (listed above), the company continues to innovate their products and services
for the better use of their consumers. Some possible impacts of their company on the society are
they can provide a better internet connection so that their customers can be satisfied. Especially
in these times of pandemic, internet connections, Wi-Fi, and other online platforms are very
significant. If Smart Communications can provide a great service, there are possibilities that
every user will be satisfied and happy. Lastly, because Smart Communication is a huge
company, most of their work needs technology to operate.
Globe Telecom
Globe Telecom, Inc. engages in the provision of telecommunications services. It offers
digital mobile communications, fixed line communications, and broadband services. It operates
through the Mobile Communication Services and Wireline Communication Services segments.
Similar to Smart Communication, technology is also used to operate Globe Telecom.
Both of them are in same industry. The only difference is that Globe Telecom was originally
incorporated on January 16, 1935 as Globe Wireless Limited while Smart Communication was
granted a provisional authority to operate a mobile cellular service in May 1993.
How technology is being utilized by Globe Telecom? Of course, since the company is
huge, majority of their employees use laptops and mobile phones which provide them with the
flexibility to change their work location as long as there are an internet connection and cellular
signal. Globe also  uses virtual desktop technology so employees can securely access their work
environment in the cloud. Same as Smart Communications, if both of these telecommunications
have no access to technology, their work will become harder.
Some possible impacts of Globe Telecom on the society are it will help everyone to have
an easy access to an internet connection, especially nowadays, internet is a part of our everyday
necessities, since globe can provide a service that we need, it will become a huge help in our
lives. One of the best examples of technological advancement in the telecommunications
industry, are Globe’s internet services. Formerly, we don’t have the opportunity to communicate
with other people in a very convenient way, but because of modernization, we can now send and
receive a message in just a second.
