Safety 1
NOTE: Disconnect the CT system from the main power supply for the
entire upgrade.
Conventions 1
Prerequisite 1
NOTE: This upgrade is possible only for systems with serial number
13108 to 13... .
*only necessary for systems with serial number 13108 to 13... and ROTANX with serial
number ≤ 3500 and revision level < 24.
Required tools 1
Preliminary Steps: 2
NOTE Inform your Opsis site manager when the upgrade will be per-
formed so a system-specific password can be assigned for the
upgrade.
Therefore the system type must be changed and the new Host-ID
must be entered.

• Replace the parts according to the instructions found in the ACS folder, Register 5,
“Replacement of parts”.
D30 Master 2
• Replace the old master (D30) with the new Master_SP (D30) .
• Replace the cover plate for the master with a new EMI cover.
Scan counter 2
• Replace the old hardware scan counter with the new scan second counter.
• Connect the cables according to the diagram. The colour of the cables is either black
and white or brown and blue.

D3 DAB 2
• Jumper the new DAB 5 (D3) atJ12->5L2 and install it. Do not install the cover and the
cable clamp ( fig.11 ) yet.
• First remove the I/O board (D27) and the CPU board (D26).
• Remove the holder shown in fig.4. It will be replaced with one which is attached to the
inverter.
• Replace the old inverter with the new one according to the instructions found in the ACS
folder, Register 5, “Replacement of parts”.
• Install the new CONTROL-BOARD (D27).
Counterbalance weights 2
This step is not necessary if the new inverter, part number 63 03 007, was already
installed before this upgrade.

• Loosen the belt on the tensioning device
- Loosen two screws (2) at the top and
two (2) at the bottom of the tensioning
carriage.
- Loosen the belt via the tensioning screw
(1).

• Solder the new connector with cables X8.1/X8.2 to soldering terminal X8.
• Connect the new connector M2.X1-X8 with the one coming from the motor (2/Fig. 21).
• Route the cable (1) as shown in Fig. 21.
• Secure the cable and the connector with cable ties (3/Fig. 21) and attach the label
M2.X1 close to the connector.
• Solder the brake cable to soldering terminal X8.3/X8.4.
• Secure soldering terminal X8 to the new motor support and attach the labels X8 and V1.
• Secure the protective conductors to the motor support and the motor.

Fig. 24
• Insert and turn the threaded pin M5*25 ( 4/fig.17 ) approximately 5 mm in one of the two
outer threaded holes of the tabletop to facilitate the installation.
• Place the belt clamp over it.
• Secure the belt clamp ( 3/fig.17 ) to the tabletop with a set screw M5*25. Do not tighten
the screw yet.
• Remove the threaded pin.
• Insert the second set screw M5*25 (do not tighten the screw yet) and push in the tension
pin.
• Tighten both screws M5*25.
Fig. 25
• If the tensioning screw lifts away from the tightening block, set it so that it touches the
tightening block at the given belt tension.
• Lock the backing nut of the tensioning screw at the tensioning carriage.
• Tighten the three remaining screws.
• As a result of this adjustment the following values should be measured:
- Force to move tabletop (measured in STOP condition ): 50N - 140N
• Attach all table covers removed prior to the upgrade except for the right and the left side
covers, to allow later installation of labels and potentiometers.
NOTE Ensure the end stop is correct, otherwise the potentiometer will
be turned too far.

NOTE Use the documents for the SOMATOM AR.SP for all procedures.
• Test the protective conductor connections to all metal covers on the system.
- The test is performed using a protective conductor meter
( P/N 44 15 899 RV 090 ).
- The measurement results will be incorrect if the measurement cables are not unrolled
from the roll.
- The protective conductor resistance must be ≤100mΩ ( measured against the
PDS protective conductor connection ).
• Switch on the system.
System starts up automatically with System/Config.
NOTE Do not switch off the unit until Configuration of software under
System/Config. was done.

Keyboard
• Attach the labels Kit Keyboard SHP and part number 37 94 513 K1072 next to the
existing labels on the back.
The upgrade kit includes a new ES (product status) list. All important parts and assem-
blies in the upgrade kit appear in this list.
After the upgrade is completed, the new ES list should be filed with the other system
papers.
In the existing ES lists for the system, place the label ”refer to ES list 27 91 049 K1085
Pos. ...” next to each position that will be replaced by a part with a new item number or
version status ( for firmware or software). The corresponding labels are included with the
upgrade kit. Prior to changing the existing ES lists, make copies of them and file these
copies with the other system papers.
All updating of the design status of these positions should be done only on the ES list.
Those positions not affected by the upgrade will be updated in the original ES list.
The following pages show examples of how ES lists should be modified. Modifications
( labels ) on the original ES lists for the system appear in brackets.
• Please fill out the ’Test and Handing Over Certificate’ and send it to Erlangen, TD CT 5.
Technical documentation 2
A new set of technical documentation for SOMATOM AR.SP will be delivered with the
upgrade kit. Please replace the old set for the SOMATOM AR.HP with this new set of
technical documentation.
Before doing so, remove the ’Generator wiring Diagram X039E’ from register 6, System
Manual SOMATOM AR.HP and place it in the new ACS Manual SOMATOM AR.SP, regis-
ter 6.
Remove the old set of technical documentation for SOMATOM AR.HP from customer site.

The CT system indicated above was upgraded with the SPIRAL HP function.
During the upgrade, the CT scan counter was converted to scan seconds, beginning
with 0 seconds.
The previous scan counter status ( old ) was calculated at 2 seconds per scan. After the
upgrade, scan seconds will be used.
As a result, the scan counter status for the CT system indicated above is converted to
scan seconds as follows:
The next time the CT X-ray tube is replaced, the scan counter status will be calculated as
follows:
Scan seconds ( old ) + Scan seconds ( new ) =
Scan seconds ( total )
