Upgrade 2 2-1

Preliminary Steps: 2

NOTE Inform your Opsis site manager when the upgrade will be per-
formed so a system-specific password can be assigned for the
upgrade.
Therefore the system type must be changed and the new Host-ID
must be entered.

• Open the front gantry door.

• Raise the patient table to the highest position.
• Delete all images no longer needed and all raw data files on the store device.
• Repeat the following steps on your system for the remaining images, before upgrading
the host.
1. Export the data set files to the /usr/appl/data/disk1 directory with the
EXPORT function.
2. Delete the data sets you successfully copied into the export directory using
the FILE/DELETE function.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until all data sets needed under SOMARIS/4 are copied to
the file system and the patient directory called up with PATIENT/SELECT shows
only patients with no images.
• Save the system tables under Service/Maintenance using Adjust-Save.
Never use this tables on SOMARIS/4 systems.
• Record the following system-specific and customer-specific data:
- Name of installation ( max. 3 )
- Device installation
- Camera configuration
- View direction
- PACS configuration ( if present )
( All information can be found under Service/Maintenance-Config.)
• Record the status of the hardware scan counter in the form found in the appendix. This
form should be signed by the customer before you begin with the upgrade.
• System/End/No Restart.
• Switch off system.

NOTE All replaced parts must be packaged and returned to:

Mr. Ryll, Siemens AG BMed, Dept. TD ER 12, Eltersdorf, Germany

Whenever possible, the original packaging material for the

upgrade kit should be used.

WARNING Hazardous Conditions:

Hazardous voltage levels may be present at the DC input of the
inverter after the system has been switched off. No voltage must
be present at connection terminals DC+ and DC- when working on
the inverter.

CAUTION The capacitors on the capacitor assembly of the inverter change

after the equipment is deenergized.
Do not touch any uninsulated part of the inverter or the conduc-
tors labeled INV+, INV-, DC+ and DC- at the terminal block on the
outside of the electronic unit before reading the caution labels on
the inverter and at the terminal block X224 on the outside of the
electronic unit.

• First remove the I/O board (D27) and the CPU board (D26).

• Remove the holder shown in fig.4. It will be replaced with one which is attached to the
inverter.
• Replace the old inverter with the new one according to the instructions found in the ACS
folder, Register 5, “Replacement of parts”.
• Install the new CONTROL-BOARD (D27).

D34 ( Key1, Key2 ) 2

• Install the new KEY firmware.

• Place the label with the firmware version beside the part number label on the shielding
plate.
• Mark the new revision level ’01’ on the AS-label with a waterproof pen.

• As a result of this adjustment the following values should be measured:
- Force to move tabletop (measured in STOP condition ): 50N - 140N
• Attach all table covers removed prior to the upgrade except for the right and the left side
covers, to allow later installation of labels and potentiometers.

Presetting the potentiometer R2

• Retract the tabletop completely.
• Turn the shaft of the potentiometer toward the "rear" end stop and then back again by
145° ±30° .

- The measurement results will be incorrect if the measurement cables are not unrolled
from the roll.
- The protective conductor resistance must be ≤100mΩ ( measured against the
PDS protective conductor connection ).
• Switch on the system.
System starts up automatically with System/Config.

NOTE Do not switch off the unit until Configuration of software under
System/Config. was done.

• Adjust the 5V/200A power supply in the IMS Container.

- Remove the right cover of the IMS Container
- Set the voltage to 5.2V -0.5% measured at the terminal studs.
• Attach the covers of the IMS container, then place the desktop CDROM on the container.
• Set the horizontal potentiometer R2 on the patient table:
- Move the tabletop to the “0” or end position manually.
- Set the voltage between 0.12V and 0.74V by turning the potentiometer shaft.
- Install the potentiometer at this setting and secure.
- Test the measurement results again and then move the tabletop toward the gantry
until it reaches the end stop.
- Measure the value again. At this position, it should be less than 9.9V.
• Attach the right table cover.

Product Status Lists ( ES Lists ) 2

The upgrade kit includes a new ES (product status) list. All important parts and assem-
blies in the upgrade kit appear in this list.
After the upgrade is completed, the new ES list should be filed with the other system
papers.
In the existing ES lists for the system, place the label ”refer to ES list 27 91 049 K1085
Pos. ...” next to each position that will be replaced by a part with a new item number or
version status ( for firmware or software). The corresponding labels are included with the
upgrade kit. Prior to changing the existing ES lists, make copies of them and file these
copies with the other system papers.
All updating of the design status of these positions should be done only on the ES list.
Those positions not affected by the upgrade will be updated in the original ES list.

The following pages show examples of how ES lists should be modified. Modifications
( labels ) on the original ES lists for the system appear in brackets.

NOTE Do not compare your ES Lists with the following examples.

The CT system indicated above was upgraded with the SPIRAL HP function.

During the upgrade, the CT scan counter was converted to scan seconds, beginning
with 0 seconds.
The previous scan counter status ( old ) was calculated at 2 seconds per scan. After the
upgrade, scan seconds will be used.

As a result, the scan counter status for the CT system indicated above is converted to
scan seconds as follows:

Scan counter status ( old ) ......................... Scans x 2 sec. =

......................... Scan seconds ( old )

The next time the CT X-ray tube is replaced, the scan counter status will be calculated as
follows:
Scan seconds ( old ) + Scan seconds ( new ) =
Scan seconds ( total )
