Cell Cycle Diagram

Procedure Label
the parts of the cell cycle diagram and describe what is happening:

Name of the part Description

A: Interphase - a cell spends more of its life in interphase.

B: G1 (Growth 1) PHASE - during this phase the cell increases in size and produces molecules

that are required for DNA replication.

C: S (Synthesis) PHASE - during this phase, the cell's DNA is being replicated.

D: G2 (Growth 2) PHASE - during this phase the cell is in a period of rapid growth and protein

synthesis.

E: Prophase - the first phase of mitosis, this process separates the duplicated

genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two

identical daughter cells.

F: Metaphase - the third phase of mitosis, this process that separates duplicated

genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two

identical daughter cells.

G: Anaphase - the fourth phase of mitosis, this process that separates the

duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell

into two identical daughter cells.

H: Telophase - the last phase of mitosis, this process that separates the duplicated

genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two

identical daughter cells.

I: Cell Division - the process by which a parent cell divides into two or more

daughter cells

J: Ctyokinesis - the physical process of cell division, which divides the cytoplasm of

a parental cell into two daughter cells.
