Student Self Concept in Distance Education System

Abstract

Open University is a state university that implements open and distance higher education. Students
must be able to apply independent learning. In this paper, the perspective on self concept affects
the independence of students. With their independence, students can adapt and eventually succeed
in independent learning. This research was a quantitative research with the data collection using
questionnaires and interviews. The population of the study was the students of the Law study
program with face-to-face tutorial learning assistance services covering the UT Semarang area. After
the research was conducted, the results showed that there is a positive correlation between the
research variables so that they contribute theoretically and practically as additional references and
information for students, teaching staff, managers, and the entire Open University academic
community.
