Addendum: Disabling Software Updates

1 Disabling Software Updates

To be conform with the Measurement Instrument Directive (MID) it can be required to disable software
updates for the HMI.

NOTICE
Seal break
The procedure requires to break the seal on the MID-Box. After you have executed the
procedure, call authorized personal to renew the seal.

Checking the Status of the MID-Box

To check the status of the MID-Box, proceed as follows:
1 Touch [MENU].
2 Select the menu items Information > System Information.
ð The System Information screen opens up.
3 Touch MID-Box in the Select Information window.
ð The system entries stored in the MID-Box are shown.
4 Check if the entry "UPDATES DISABLED" is shown. If it is shown, software updates are already disabled.
Otherwise continue with Disabling the Software Update.

Disabling the Software Update

To reset the MID-Box and disable software updates, contact your METTLER TOLEDO Service representative
who can execute the following steps.
1 Touch [MENU].
2 Select the menu items Setup > General > MID.
ð The MID screen opens up.
3 Make sure the following checkboxes are checked: MID Level 1 reached? and MID Level 2 planned?
ð The button [!! Disable SW-Updates !!] is shown.
4 Touch the button [!! Disable SW-Updates !!].
ð A warning is shown.
5 Confirm with [Yes].
ð A warning that the MID-Box requires a reset is shown.
6 Confirm with [OK] or wait until the warning disappears.
7 Open the control enclosure and locate the MID-Box.
8 Remove the seal from the MID-Box.
9 Unscrew the screws and remove the top plate of the MID-Box.
10 Press the reset button until the red Error lamp on the MID-Box starts blinking.
ð The MID-Box is reset.
11 Touch [MENU].
12 Select the menu items Setup > General > MID.
ð The MID screen opens up.
13 Touch the button [!! Disable SW-Updates !!].
ð A warning is shown.
14 Confirm with [Yes] and wait 10 seconds.
ð A message is shown that software updates are
disabled: MID-Box set to NO-UPDATE!
15 Turn the checkweigher off and on, using the
disconnect switch.
ð The checkweigher restarts and the red Error Reset button of the MID-Box
lamp turns off when the system is ready.

 16 Optionally check the status of the MID-Box using the steps described in Checking the Status of the
MID-Box.
17 Call authorized personal to renew the seal.
If a software update is started when software updates are disabled, the following message is shown in the
protocol window: UPDATE blocked by MID-Box.
