-Surface Course is the layer that protects the underlying base course from traffic and
water such as AC (Asphalt Concrete), RC (Reinforced Concrete), Surface Treatment (SBST,
DBST, TBST: Single, Double, Triple Bituminous Surface Treatment).
-Base Course is a main supporting course paved with high quality material under the
asphalt surface.
-Sub base is a secondary supporting course paved with secondary material under the base
course.
-Subgrade:
*Roadbed is refer to subgrade which under 0.80m under the pavement and it divide to
+Upper Roadbed (0-0.3m)
+Lower Roadbed (0.3-0.8m)
*Embankment is refer to the fill subgrade higher than the original ground within (0.8-
1.5m) and it divide to
+Upper Embankment (0.8-1.5m)
+Lower Embankment (1.5m-)

Earthwork Subgrade

• Filling:

requirement. The materials shall be tested such as moisture
content and CBR test; grading analysis, plasticity index, specific
