1. Installation Sequence

Note: with the exception of PNMSj+ Server Setting, these procedures should be executed on
the PNMSj+ workstation client.
Step1: Java Policy Setting

NOTE
Because the Client falling into sleep mode may cause
PNMSj+ Server to slow down, please setup in a way
that sleep mode will not be activated.

2. Java Policy Setting

(1) Copy the java.policy file from <CD-ROM Drive>  <PNMSj+ Setup Disk Directory>
 policy on the PNMSj+ workstation. (Following screen shot is from PNMSj+ server)

(2) Paste the java.policy file copy in <Home Directory> of a User which you want to use as
PNMSj+ Client on the PNMSj+ workstation client.
Then Open the java.policy file with a text editor.

(3) Enter the IP address of the PNMSj+ Server, (not a Client PNMSj+ address) to the line
beginning with the "codeBase".

NOTE
Edit "http" to "https" if a Client is required to startup
with https protocol.

Enter the IP address of the PNMSj+ Server, (not a Client PNMSj+ address) to the line
beginning with the "permission java.net SocketPermission".

NOTE
To enable copy and paste function in PNMSj+ client, please edit
java.policy shown as follows.
- Delete "//" from the comment in 30th line.

(4) Set up the following point A or B.


A. Rename the name of registered java.policy file to .java.policy.

Refer below for the method to rename using the command prompt.
Launch cmd.exe.

Change current directory to the <Home directory> which you pasted the java.policy
file copy in.

Rename the java.policy file to .java.policy by entering below:


rename java.policy .java.policy

Confirm whether the java.policy file was changed to .java.policy.:

Open the deployment properties file which is located under following folder:
<Home Directory of a User>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment

Add the following new line to the file as shown below:


deployment.security.use.user.home.java.policy=true

Save the file.

B. Replace the common java.policy file with java.policy of (3) by following command.
The common java.policy file location is as shown in below:
<Java Install Folder>\lib\security\java.policy

(5) Click Java in the Control Panel window.

(6) Select the Security tab and click [Edit Site List].

(7) The Exception Site List window appears. Click [Add].

(8) Input the following and click [OK].

The Security Warning window appears, click [Continue].

3. Launching PNMSj+ Client

(1) Open the Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the PNMSj+ Server (not a Client
PNMSj+ address), adding the suffix Pnmsj/Pnmsj.html.
Click Application shown to Internet Explorer.

For example, if the IP address is 192.168.203.21, you would need to enter address to:
http://192.168.203.21/Pnmsj/Pnmsj.html

NOTE
Edit "http" to "https" in address bar if a Client is required to
startup with https protocol. For Server setup, please refer to
Server Setting Manual.

NOTE

When the following window appears, click [Continue].

(2) Following window appear and disappear automatically. It takes a few minutes depend on
the network bandwidth.

(3) The Security Warning will pop-up. Click [Run].

(4) The PNMSj+ Java Web Start is in progress.

NOTE
Enabling Smart Screen Filter of IE8 might cause
appearance of duplicate login windows.

(5) Enter the valid user name and password indicated on the PNMSj+ server.
(The user name default setting is: admin but there is no initial password. Just press Enter.
A password can then be set on the PNMSj+ server.)

User name: admin


Password: ________ (none)

Appendix A: Java Runtime Setting

Install Java Runtime and double-click the file name (highlighted below).

Appendix B: ADM Management Tool Setup for NEO/a

When PNMSj+ is selected to be used for monitoring of NEO/a, please install ADM
Management
Tool by following the steps listed below.

NOTE
It is necessary to remove ADM Management Tool if it has
already been installed.
You can check if ADM Management Tool is installed or not
by selecting Start -> Setting -> Control Panel->Add/Remove
Programs window.

(1) Open <CD-ROM Drive> -> <ADMT Directory> and double-click SETUP.EXE. Check
<Welcome> window then click [Next].

(2) Input <User Information> then click [Next].

(3) Set Destination Folder in the <Choose Destination Location> window.

(4) Click [Browse...] button, then the <Choose Folder> window appears.
Input "C:\ADM_Management_Tool" as the Path and click [OK].

(5) Confirm "C:\ADM_Management Tool" is shown as Destination Folder. Click [Next].

NOTE
Destination Folder should be set "C:\ADM_Management_Tool".

If the folder is different, PNMSj+ Client can not activate ADM.

(6) <Select Features> window appears. Click [Next].


Check off the boxes of all the files to install and click [Next].

(7) <Select Program Folder> window appears. Click [Next] to start install.

(8) Click [Finish] button to close the Management Tool installation wizard.

Appendix C: Setting up Web Proxy

If firewall or routing inhibits direct connection between PNMSj+ client and NE, client
cannot call LCT in iPASOLINK. In such a case, by using Web Proxy (Squid Cache),
PNMSj+ Client can call LCT in iPASOLINK via PNMSj+ Server.

NOTE
To setup Server, please refer to Server Setting Manual.

(1) Start IE and select Tools -> Internet Option.

(2) From Preference window, select Connections tab and click [LAN settings].

(3) From LAN settings window, check off the box for Use a proxy server for your LAN and
click [Advanced].

(4) Setup as follows and click [OK].

Appendix D: In the case of launching the Clients of plural PNMSj+ Server

In the case of launching the Clients of plural PNMSj+ Server by only one machine, please
follow the java policy below.

(1) Copy the red frame part and paste them after the respective red frame part.

(2) Rewrite the pasted parts to the other IP Address of PNMSj+ Server. If more than 2
PNMSj+ Server exist, repeat as many times as the number of machines.

The below is an example when the IP Address of PNMSj+ Server are 192.168.203.21 and
192.168.203.33.

Appendix E: If PNMSj+ Client has multiple NIC

If PNMSj+ Client has multiple LAN Port(NIC), perform the following setting.

(1) Open Network and Sharing Center window (Control Panel  View network status and
tasks). Click Change adapter settings.

(2) Select Advanced  Advanced Settings at Network Connections window.


(If Advanced menu is not appearing on the window, enter Alt key)

(3) Confirm Connections area at Advanced Settings window. Make sure that the LAN
Port(NIC) connecting to PNMSj+ Server is on the top of the area.

If not, select the LAN Port(NIC) connecting to PNMSj+ Server, enter click button
then move that LAN Port(NIC) to the top.

(4) In the Network Connections window, right-click LAN Port(NIC) connected to PNMSj+
Server and select Properties.

(5) In the Ethernet Properties window, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and
click [Properties].

(6) In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window, click [Advanced].

(7) In the Advanced TCP/IP Setting window, select IP Settings tab.


Make sure that Interface metric of NIC connecting to the server is lower than others.
If it is not so, change the settings.

Appendix F: THE ADDITIONAL SETTING IF PNMSJ+ CLIENT CANNOT BE


STARTED

If PNMSj+ Client cannot be started following by the Manual Setting, perform the following setting.

F-1. Remove unreachable DNS server


(1) Open Network and Sharing Center window (Control Panel  View network status and
tasks). Click Change adapter settings.

(2) In the Network Connections window, right-click LAN Port(NIC) connected to PNMSj+
Server and select Properties.

(3) In the Ethernet Properties window, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and
click [Properties].

(4) In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window, click [Advanced].

(5) In the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window, select DNS tab.


Make sure that DNS server setting is correct. If unreachable DNS server is defined,
remove it.

F-2. Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP


(1) Open Network and Sharing Center window (Control Panel  View network status and
tasks). Click Change adapter settings.

(2) In the Network Connections window, right-click LAN Port(NIC) connected to PNMSj+
Server and select Properties.

(3) In the Ethernet Properties window, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and
click [Properties].

(4) In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window, click [Advanced].

(5) In the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window, select WINS tab.


Select Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

F-3. Setting of PNMSj+ Client timeout


Period of the Timeout can be changed. Default of Timeout is 30 seconds. Perform one of the
following settings on PNMSj+ Client.

<Environment variable settings by Control Panel>


(1) Open System window (Control Panel  System and Security  System).
Click Advanced system settings.

(2) In the System Properties window, click [Environment Variables...].

(3) In the Environment Variables window, click either [New...] of User variables or
System variables.

(4) After inputting on either window of New User Variable or New System Variable, click
[OK].
Variable name: PNMSCLIENT_LOGINTIMEOUT
Variable value: <Client Timeout Period>
Client Timeout Period from 1 to 2147483 secs.
(User Variable is the priority if both settings take place.)

(5) Restart the WEB Browser to reflect the settings if WEB Browser is already activated.

< Environment variable settings by command prompt>


(1) Open the command prompt and then enter either of the following commands.
(Execute as Administrator to set the system variable.)
- In case of setting user environment variables
C:\> setx PNMSCLIENT_LOGINTIMEOUT 180
- In case of setting system environment variables
C:\> setx PNMSCLIENT_LOGINTIMEOUT 180 /M

(2) Restart the WEB Browser to reflect the settings if WEB Browser is already activated.
