I-INTRODUCTION:
In this unit, you will discover many things about different animals. Look at
the picture of the animals above. Can you name all of them? Describe each animal.
There are two body parts which all animals have. These are the head and the
body. You will find out out more about the different body parts of animals. Some
animals have special body parts that other animals do not have. The common parts
of animals are the body and the head. Most land animals usually have legs and tails
Body parts which are not common to all animals include fins, wings, horns, and
antennae.
Fish have fins used for swimming. Birds and insects have wings for flying.
Insects are animals with six legs. Their bodies have three common parts the head,
thorax, and abdomen. Insects have antennae for feeling and smelling their way in
their surroundings. Some land animals have horns for protection.
Animals have different body coverings to protect them from head and cold.

What animals do you know? In the boxes below, draw animals that have the given
body parts.
Animals with wings Animals with Horns Animals with Tails
Body Parts Not Common to all Animals
Some animals have body parts which others do not have. For example,
carabaos, cows, and goats have special body parts called horns. These animals us
their horns for protection from bigger animals.
Unlike land animals, fish do not have legs. Instead, they have fins and a tail. Fish
use their fins for swimming. The tail moves from side to side. This movement
makes the fish move forward.
Birds like duck, chicken, and eagle have wings. Insects are small animals
with six legs. Most insects like butterfly, mosquito, and bee have wings
Land animals have legs for walking and running. A horse has long and slim legs
which help it to run fast. Many land animals, such as cows and zebras, wag their
tails to drive away insects from their bodies. Some animals like monkeys use their
tails to hang on to branches as they swing from tree to tree. The tail has different
uses for different animals.
Animals with short legs, like penguins and turtles, cannot run fast. Some animals
have short legs in front and long legs at the back. The legs at the back or the hind
legs are used for jumping . Frogs, grasshoppers, and kangaroos can jump high
because of their long hind legs.

Body Parts of Animals
Introduction
Animals can be found almost everywhere .You can see them in the gardens, parks,
rivers, forests, and many other places. Animals are living things. They eat breathe, move, and
grow. Some animals are small while some are big. Some have two feet while others have
more. Some animals have hair or scales, Others have skin, and still others are covered with
shells. Animals have similarities and differences based on how they move, get food, breathe
air, protect themselves, and reproduce. Animals are also important to people. We must alays
care for them.
Objectives
1.Describe the body parts that animals use.
2.Explain how the different body parts of animals protect and enable them to survive.
Vocabulary
Quick- moving fast grasp- hold firmly escape – break free
Pre-Test
A. Look at the pictures of the animals. Can you name them? Describe the body parts of
each animal.
Fish
The body of the fish is divided into two the head and abdomen. A fish has tail and fins. The fins
help the fish move forward in a straight line, turn left and right, and go up and down.
Bird are covered with feathers .Their bodies are held upright
by two legs. all birds have wings although some birds cannot fly. Birds
have beaks and claws. Birds that feed on insects have pointed beaks.
Some birds have hooked beaks to rip the fish that they eat into small
pieces. Birds claws also help them get their food.
Snake
The body of a snake has two parts the head and a long muscular trunk. The
body is covered with scaly skin. A snake does not have feet. It moves by crawling.
It does not chew its food, but swallows it uses its tongue to smell. It has a good
sense of smell and uses it to find food.
Cat
Cats belong to the higher form of animals called mammals. Some mammals are covered
with hair or fur. They have muscular bodies and lungs that help them breathe. Mammals posses
one or two pairs of legs for walking, hopping, and running. Young mammals are cared for their
mother for a certain period of time after they are born.
There are animals that eat the meat of flesh of other animals. These animals are called
carnivores. Birds like eagles, hawks, and owls are examples of carnivores. Spiders and frogs are
carnivores. However, most carnivores directly kill and eat other animals. These animals are
called predators. Lions, tigers, and snakes are examples of predators. The animal that is killed
and eaten by a predator is called prey
There are animals that eat both plants and animals. These animals are called omnivores. You
eat plants when you eat fruits, vegetables, rice, and corn. You eat eggs, meat, milk, and cheese
which come from animals. This means that you are omnivore.
Baby animals are often given special names. Here are some baby n

Introduction
In this unit, you will learn about the parts and functions of the sense organs, and their
importance to the human body to live a safe and healthful life.
You enjoy the different things in your environment with your sense organs. Your eyes,
nose, ears, tongue, and skin are sense organs. Each sense organ has special nerve cells. These
nerve cells gather information from your environment.
Messages from most parts of your body travel through the spinal cord. The spinal cord is
a soft organ that connect your brain with the nerves in your body. The nerves in the spinal cord
carry the information to the brain and back to the part which will perform the desired function.
Objectives
1.Name the sense organs in the human body.
2.Describe the functions of these sense organs.
3.State the ways to take care of these sense organs.
Vocabulary
Reflex action- automatic response to a certain situation Impulse- sudden force or desire
Pre-Test
Sense organs
Our body has five senses namely: sense of sight, sense of smell , sense of hearing, sense of
taste, and sense of touch. Our sense allow us to observe and understand the word around us.
Do you know the parts that are related to these senses?
These body parts are known as the sense organs. Our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin are the
sense organs in our body. They are important as they tell us what is happening around us. They
have special structures called receptors to detect the changes or stimuli around us. Each organ
is sensitive to a particular kind of stimulus.

Kaya natin Itong Gawin
Layunin
Pagpapalalim
