OUR VISIT AT MOTIF INDIA INFOTECH

This is about our visit to one of Ahmedabad’s leading BPOs – Motif India InfoTech. It was
somewhere around dusk when me and my friends got there. So, when we reached Motif, after
entering its premises, we took a second to admire the beauty and elegance of its interior design.
First, we entered the cafeteria and the atmosphere of the cafeteria was so pleasant. The walls of
the cafeteria had such beautiful colors that were aesthetically pleasing. The cafeteria was full of
Motif employees who were having their evening tea/coffee, a lot of people gossiping, probably
to get their minds off of work and relax for a bit. So, we went up and talked to a few of them and
requested them to share their experience at Motif. The people there were so friendly and
welcoming; they made us feel like we were already a part of Motif. We heard that Motif was all
about its work culture and its core values.
They shared their work experience and the work culture at Motif. At motif, they have a diverse
work-force that includes people of different cultures and backgrounds, and they provide a work
environment that treats everyone with respect and fairness. We learned that 22.5% of company
equity is owned by employees; the highest employee ownership of any outsourcing company in
the world. The continuous exchange of best practices across programs, peers and delivery centers
creates an environment of collaboration and support. Motif provides an open and transparent
environment where all employees are encouraged to offer their inputs. There, they believe that
some of the best innovations and most effective improvements to systems, processes and policies
come from their staff, as they face customers every day.

They help in building and enhancing critical skill sets within employees so that they become
subject matter experts capable of working closely with the customers. The people are their best
asset and they walk the talk. As part of Motif’s commitment, they grow their staff from within
and offer training for their professional development. We welcome high achievers from diverse
backgrounds who share our value system. Motif is an equal opportunity employer and does not

Then they shared that the Employees who have grown through the ranks hold 90% of their
operations management positions. Many started their careers at Motif as front line executives.
There, they believe in continuously providing their employees with new challenges, and the
opportunity to grow and evolve within Motif.
They encourage healthy competition among individuals and teams, rewarding those who excel
and recognizing all who contribute. The employees can expect to receive opportunities for lateral
and vertical growth within Motif in an atmosphere of fair competition. Through continuous
performance feedback with a consistent, objective and fair appraisal system, they recognize their
good performers and identify those poised for growth.

Motif University and their leadership program Spark, helps their employees enhance their skills
and acquire greater knowledge. Growing from within is a way of life at Motif.

On hearing about such a beautiful work culture from the employees, we were in utter awe. Then
we went on the work floor, and saw for ourselves what the employees were talking about. All the
employees had personal work-stations and Motif provides an environment conducive to learning
and professional development. Employees there, gain first-hand experience of the systems and
processes of large, and often pioneering, companies. The employees also said that Motif is a
place wherein you can learn as well as share what you learn with your colleagues. Another one
of Motif’s topmost values is that you have the right to express your opinion at Motif.

We interacted with various employees on the work floor and there we learned that Motif has an
open door policy, which means, the employees there can meet anyone (even Kaushal Mehta –
founder, and Parul Mehta – Co-founder) and discuss new ideas, challenges or suggestions. The
entire leadership team is very co-operative and empathetic, be it on a professional or a personal
front. This helps a lot for people who are self-motivated to bring in new things, and portray their
core values by going above and beyond to challenge the status quo but still maintaining the
integrity by staying within the limitations that have been set, in order to improve the process.

After we had interacted with the employees and explored Motif’s work floor and it’s cafeteria;
we were simply astonished at Motif’s work environment, the growth opportunities over there, the
dedication and commitment of the employees. Finally, we would like to conclude about our visit
at Motif by saying that it was an amazing experience for us as we saw what a beautiful culture
they have at Motif; and we got to learn about how to grow from within, about how much can we
achieve if we dedicate our time and soul to our work and consider it as worship.
