Research Title: Calamansi (Citrus Microcarpa) Fruit Peel Extract as a Corrosion Inhibitor of
Mild Steel in Muriatic Acid
Objective: The main objective of the study was to determine the corrosion inhibitor of calamansi
fruit peel extract on mild steel in muriatic acid.
1. The corrosion inhibition effect of calamansi fruit peel extracts at different concentrations
on mild steel in muriatic acid.
2. The significant difference between the inhibition efficiencies of the different levels of
concentration of calamansi fruit peel extracts on mild steel in muriatic acid
Null Hypothesis:
1. There is no corrosion inhibition effect of Calamansi fruit peel extract on mild steel in
muriatic acid.
2. There is no significant difference between the inhibition efficiencies of the different
levels of concentration of calamansi fruit peel extracts on mild steel in muriatic acid.

Formula For Corrosion Rate:

∆ m ×3.45 x 106
CR= CR – Corrosion Rate(mpy)
DSt
Δm – mass loss (g)
D – density of mild steel (g/cm3) = 8.00 g/cm3
S – Surface area of the specimen (cm2) = 11.58cm2

t – immersion period = 24hrs
