1. What are the varieties and registers of spoken and written language?

The varieties of spoken and written language are pidgin, creole, regional
direct, minority dialect, and indigenized varieties while the registers of spoken
and written language according to Nordquist(2018) are frozen, formal,
consultative, casual, and intimate. The language register are also classified as
formal language register, informal language register and neutral language
register.

2. Why is it important to use appropriate varieties and registers in language?

Obviously, every country in the world has different language and that language
has different style of varieties and registers. But the dominant language in the
whole world is English, so countries in the world are learning in English to be
able to communicate. The use of appropriate varieties and registers in
language are important to be able to communicate easily, freely and also to
avoid misunderstanding and misinterpretation.

3. Why is language register important?


We all know that we have different language, the level of formality that being
used in a different situations or scenarios. It is important to know the language
register so that we can use the language that is appropriate in a particular
situation or scenarios, for example, you are talking to a group of friends the
situation is casual so you can use casual language. Language registers is
important because if we use it in appropriate way we can avoid misconception.

4. How important is correct language register in communication?

The appropriate or correct language register depends upon topic,


audience, purpose and location. It is very important to use the correct language
register in communication because there are different situations and scenarios.
For example, I am talking to a friend, then I will use the casual style, if I am in
the academic field, I will obviously use the formal style.
