Site Work

Storage
CemBond and Squash Court Paint can be stored in sealed containers in dry cool storage areas away from direct sunlight for 6
months after date of invoice. Squash Court Filler Coat to be stored off the floor on wooden slats for 4 months after date of invoice
and under the same conditions as Squash Court Paint.

Weather
Avoid freezing before and during application.

Suitable Surfaces
For the treatment of newly plastered squash court playing walls.

Surface preparation
Brickwork
Rake the vertical joints of the brickwork to obtain a suitable key for the plaster. A plaster mix comprising one volume OPC, one
volume clean fine river sand and three volumes clean plaster sand should be applied not thicker than 20mm. Finish plaster with a
wooden float, not a steel trowel as this will bring the fines to the surface causing crazing. Also, a smooth surface will not give the
mechanical key needed for this treatment. Cure the plaster by wetting with water twice daily for 7 days. The cured plaster then
needs to be treated with a Squash Court Filler mix made up of CemBond, water and Squash Court Filler to make a smooth surface
to receive the Squash Court Paint.

Previously Painted Surfaces

Prior to commencement of the recoating of previously painted surfaces, random tests for soundness should be conducted. Small
crosses (x) should be made through the paint film using a razor blade, adhesive tape should be placed over the crosses and
removed in a single motion. Should the paint film adhere to the adhesive tape the surface is deemed to be unsound. Unsound
Surfaces After removing all loose, flaking paint and powdery deposits prime the surface using a CemBond/water solution made up
of 1 volume CemBond and 3 volumes water followed by three coats of Squash Court Paint.

IMPORTANT: For renovations - if the existing plaster is cracked or hollow it is better to remove that plaster totally and re-plaster
from corner to corner. Do not patch repair.

Masking
For best results all windows, doors and adjacent surfaces should be masked using blue painters masking tape (available at
Cemcrete) and brown paper. All masking material must be removed at the end of the day’s work.

Application
Surfaces should be clean, hard and dry at time of application. Finish plaster with a wood float. Cure plaster twice daily with a
fine water spray for 1 week. Allow to dry off and scrape off any little projection of sand or cement with the edge of a steel trowel.
Dust clean. Prime surface with a solution of 1 volume CemBond and 3 volumes water. Allow to dry for a minimum of 2 hours. Mix
Cemcrete’s Trowel on Filler Coat using solution of 1 volume CemBond and 3 volumes water to the consistency of putty plaster.
Run the filler very tightly into the pores of the plaster, making sure you do not put on an actual layer. Allow to dry until the next day.
Sandpaper entire surface with medium sandpaper, back to the plaster, showing the filler only in the little holes. If the surface still
shows rough unfilled areas a second coat should be trowelled in. If so, re-sandpaper. Dust off with a clean dry block brush or clean
dry broom. Seal completed surface with one coat of a solution of 1 volume CemBond and 3 volumes water, applied with a roller.
The surface is now ready for 3 coats of Cemcrete’s Squash Court Paint applied with a roller.
