5m strengthen type motorized Rx Antenna

Installation &
Operation Manual
1. General
GS~450 is feed-forward satellite TV receiving antenna in aperture diameter of 4.5m and used
to receive C band or Ku band satellite signals.

2. Technical Requirements
GS~450 satisfies the following technical requirements and complies with national standard
GB/T11442 and GB/T16954/1997.
4.1 Technical index requirements

Note: the feed-backward antenna after correction of subreflector should have large margin in
accordance with index requirement.
2.2 Adjustment range of antenna direction
Elevation: 0º~90º, Azimuth: ±70º
2.3 Windproof capacity: work normally at force 8 wind, work with reduced accuracy at force 10
wind, and not damaged at force 12 wind (antenna is locked toward sky).
2.4 Service life: not less than 10 years.
3. Installation and Adjustment
3.1 Cast reinforced concrete foundation of antennas as per foundation drawing, and proceed
with installation procedure after the foundation is thoroughly cured.
3.2 Since supports and reflectors of this series of antennas are heavy in weight and
complicated in structure, professional installation team should be employed for installation in
order to guarantee safety. Before installation technicians of manufacturer should be enquired for
details of installation procedure and adjustment.
3.3 After installation, coordinate the antennas with high-frequency lens and receivers, and
preset the antennas at receiving station in the rough range relative to elevation angle and azimuth
angle, fine-tune the elevation angle and azimuth angle of the antennas and polarization direction
of feed sources repetitively till the optimal audio-visual effect is received.
Special attention: in order to make the antennas at the optimal working status:
For feed-forward antenna, the distance from the aperture of feed source to the center of
paraboloid should be carefully adjusted in the range of F±20mm so that the phase center of feed
source is precisely placed on the focus of paraboloid. Here for 4.5m antenna F=1800 mm.
For feed back-ward antenna, adjustment is a little more complicated. Refer to Fig.1 and
determine extension Lºof feed source and the value of distance H between the centers of
subreflector and main reflector according to the type of your antenna. In general H should be
strictly equal to the value listed in table, while if the optimal value of Lºis equal to the value of L。
in the table plus 5~20mm, the effect of visual reception should be carefully compared to
determine the optimal value of Lº.

4. Application and Maintenance

4.1 During installation of the antennas, lightning protection should be noticed, and if required,
qualified lightning protection devices should be installed.
4.2 Screw rods and locknuts should be coated with grease for protection from corrosion.
4.3 Surface paint if peeling off should be repaired in time. In general the surface should be
painted once per two years.
Installation Procedure for Satellite TV Receiving Antenna

(Motorized 4.5m feed-forward)

1. Please read the installation procedure in the manual, and install in accordance with the

following technological procedure.

2. After receiving the antenna, the user should take the package apart, count parts based on

the list and check for intactness.

3. Choose the site without interference and obstacles, cast reinforced concrete according to

foundation drawing, and install anchor bolts, which position error should not be more than

±0.5mm (construction of concrete is as per building standards). The aperture of the antenna

when being locked toward sky should be guaranteed free of damage by force 12 wind.

4. After the concrete is secure, install posts and adjusting dials and adjust posts to be

vertical, tighten anchor bolts. Serial No. of installation (1 to 1 and 2 to 2) is marked on two

supports of posts.

5. Install hub base screw rods, pins and azimuth tuning screw rods of central bodies .

6. Install according to serial No. of back racks in turn, i.e. serial No.1 of central bodies to

serial No.1 of back racks, 2 to 2......and 15 to 15. Serial No. of long and short pull rods

should be the same as that of back racks, i.e. 1 to 1......and 15 to 15. Central bodies and back

racks are tightened with ф10 bolts, back racks and pull rods are tightened with ф8 bolts, for

central bodies and back racks, tighten bolts upon installation of one piece, while back racks

and pull rods are tightened after assembly.

7. Assemble main reflectors with serial No. 1 to serial No.1 of back racks, 2 to 2......and 15

to 15. Central bodies and main reflectors are connected with ф6 bolts, main reflectors and

back racks are connected with ф8 bolts, and main reflectors and cylindrical connection plates

are connected with ф6 bolts. Putting on all ф6 and ф8 bolts before tightening is required.

8. Install struts and fixed plates of feed sources and tighten with ф8 bolts.

9. Install feed sources and adjust polarization, and measure the focus that should be

1800mm±20.
10. Install center plates and tighten with ф5 bolts.

11. Fine tune azimuth angle and pitch angle according to signal strength and lock.

12. Install lightning protection facilities and grounding wires, and maintain the antennas

for 1~2 times per year.

13. During the above installation, please refer to graphics and pictures provided by

manufacturer.
Technical requirements
1. This design is applicable to the plain regions at basic wind pressure of within
80kg/m2, and the regions not in compliance with the above condition should be
properly handled.
2. The foundation is located on the plain, ground endurance of 8000kg/m2 is
permitted, the foundation is 100mm higher than ground, and the buried depth is
1.0m at minimum.
3. No.300 concrete foundation can be cast at one time, and construction should
be as per the relevant construction codes and inspection standards of buildings.
4. Anchor bolts should be embedded strictly according to the indicated
dimensions, and the error should not be over ±1mm, 16 bolts are made of Φ
235 steel.
5. The antennas should be installed complete with really reliable lightning
protection facilities.
6. The foundation should be firm with tensile resistance not less than 20T/m2
and lateral force resistance not less than 12T/m2.
7. If the foundation is located on the roof, anchor bolts and beam
reinforcements should be solidly welded. The thickness of foundation can be
400~500mm.
8. In typhoon areas the thickness of foundation is 1.5m and equipped with
reinforcing mesh welded firmly with anchor bolts.
9. The foundation can be cast as a whole, if separate casting is required, please
Satellite direction perform in accordance with dimensions indicated on the drawing.
