SCENARIO
Prepared Emergency Crash Landing
- The Flight SGN – ICN, VJ 000, taxiing, take -off, after take-off, cruising at 35.000ft.
- A/C has incident of Fuel Starvation, PIC decides to make emergency landing in … (prepared crash landing). Time for
cabin preparation …. Minutes.
Requirements:
1. Cabin crew performs normal flight. Follow SOP.
2. A/C has incident of Fuel Starvation, emergency landing in ….
 Capt gives command “Purser to flight deck” or/and Emergency call
 Capt briefs P1 (TVT) about NITS sequence
 P1 (TVT) briefs P2, P3, P4.
 P1 (TVT) make announcement
 P2, P3, P4, prepares cabin for emergency crash landing
 P1, P2, P3, P4, carry out steps to prepare cabin for emergency crash landing.
3. About 60 seconds (500 ft) before A/C touching down & strong impacts
 P1, P2, P3, P4, shouts commands & assumes brace position
4. A/C has strong impacts & stops
 Capt gives command “Evacuate, Evacuate, Evacuate”
 P1, P2, P3, P4, shouts commands, open exits & evacuates paxs when hearing “Evacuate, Evacuate,
Evacuate” (Evacuation Technique).

a) EXCHANGE NITS SEQUENCE

- Pur to cockpit to receive NITS briefing from Capt:


 Accurate info / check back info / synchronize time
- P2, P3, P4: stop service, secure cabin, galley, return to station and wait for
Purser‘s instructions.
- P2, P3, P4 must not panic paxs by giving wrong info.
- Pur briefs NITS to P2, P3, P4 (sending, receiving/confirming). P2, P3, P4
confirms info of NITS.
 Sufficient/accurate/ brief/ clear
 Apply the correct procedure on A320 (use PA for communication in CEET)
- [P1 guides cabin crew to demonstration position.]
 “Cabin crew move to demonstration position. “
b) MAKE ANNOUNCEMENT
- P1: makes clear announcement & appropriate pause.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Purser speaking…”
- P4 stands in front of first row.
- P3 stands in front of row 12.
- P2 stands in front of row 21.

c) SELECT PSPs & ABPs

d) REPOSITION PSPS & ABP (IF POSSIBLE AND IF TIME PERMITS)


 Light load: Reposition passengers to nearest exits
 Full Load: Reposition PSPs to exits and ABPs next to the invalids
- P1: makes clear announcement, pause and monitor cabin crew
“As part of our preparation we must move…”

- [P4 repositions 6 PSPs to first row left & right hand side].
- [P2 repositions 3 PSPs to last row left hand side].

e) LOOSEN TIGHT CLOTHING & REMOVE SHARP OBJECTS


- P1: makes clear announcement :
“At this time, loosen ties and collars…”
“CABIN CREW REMOVE SHARP OBJECTS”
- [ P2, P3, P4 check & remind PAXs in assigned area (loosen tight clothing
and remove sharp objects)]
 “Remove your spectacles ….shoes …Thank you”
- [P2, P3, P4 look back to P1, thump up to confirm].

f) DEMONSTRATION
- P1: makes clear announcement :
“When you hear the command: Brace!Brace, bend fully forward and…”
- [P4, P2, P3 bend forward].
- P1: makes clear announcement, pause and monitor cabin crew
“If you are unable to do this , cross your wrists…”
- [P4, P2, P3 cross wrists & place forehead on arm].
“We will give you the special bracing instruction…”

 “Paxs from row 2 this is your brace position, lean forward. Show me!

position in assigned area].

- [P2, P3, P4 show PAXs in assigned area the nearest exits : P4 from row 1-
11; P3 from row 12-20; P2 from row 21-31]

- [P2, P3, P4 look back to P1, thump up to confirm].
Note: in reality, nearest exits maybe behind passengers (over-wing exits)

g) DEMONSTRATE SAFETY INFORMATION CARD


- P1: makes clear announcement, pause and monitor cabin crew

window shades up, hand luggage stowed, seatbelt fastened & no smoking.]
- [P1,P2,P3,P4 check galley electronics are off, galley equipment/carts are
stowed and latched, lavatories are secured.]
- [P1,P2,P3,P4 check doors in CORRECT mode.]

i) BRIEF PSPs

- [P1, P2, P3, P4 brief 01 PSP how to open the door at designed exits].
 “When you hear evacuate... If I’m incapacitated, you help me to open
the door. Grab this (frame handle), hold this (control handle), check no
fire/smoke/obstruction. You lift this (control) handle up and release,
wait for slide fully inflated.You will jump first. Are you clear? Pls
show me..Thank you.Pls return to your seat and fasten your seatbelt”.

- [P2, P3, P4 brief 02 PSPs to stand back and wait for raft inflated at the
beginning point of evacuation path].
 “When you hear the command evacuate...When I open the door, you
stand here help me to block pax. You stand like this… interlock your
arms, other hands raise like this and shout “Stand back, stand back”.
When hearing “Jump,jump”, you will evacuate first. Are you clear? Pls
show me… Thank you.Pls return to your seat and fasten your seatbelt”.
j) RETURN TO CREW STATION & REPORT

- [P2, P3, P4 come back seat and self-secure].


- [P1 checks all cabin, comes back seat, self-secure and make CALL ALL to
get reports from other CC then report to Capt].
“CABIN SECURED FOR EMERGENCY LANDING”
Note: This report phrase is used for both landing and ditching situation.

k) SILENT REVIEW & BRACE POSITION

- Cabin crew perform silent Review and await for brace signal

- Command (appropriate, strong, loud, long, synchronizing…)

- Brace position (appropriate)

l) EVACUATION TECHNIQUE

- Command (appropriate, strong, loud, long, synchronizing, no panic…)


- Door open techniques:
 hold frame assist handle and door control handle
 check outside condition
 lift door control handle and release
- Push the door manually if it is not opened automatically

- Wait for slide/raft inflating and perform correct stand back position

- Stand on the dedicated place, shout correct command and evacuate paxs.
Promptly give a right impact to paxs who hesitates to jump and slide.
- Promptly shout right command to redirect paxs the other exits if it is
unusable.

- Evacuate all paxs with times required and right slide technique

- Check cabin, support other areas

- Take survival equipment and evacuate
