SCENARIO
A321 Unprepared Emergency Ditching
- The Flight SGN – ICN, VJ 000, cruising at 35.000ft.
- A/C has incident of 2 engines failed, PIC decides to make emergency Ditching in 8 minutes (unprepared ditching).
Time for cabin preparation 8 minutes.
Requirements:
1. Cabin crew performs normal flight. Follow SOP.
2. A/C has incident of of 2 engines failed, emergency ditching in 8 minutes
 Capt gives command “Purser to flight deck” or/and Emergency call
 Capt briefs P1 about NITS sequence or all cabin crew through emergency call
 P1 (Purser) makes short announcement
 P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 carry out steps to prepare cabin for emergency ditching.
3. About 60 seconds (500 ft ) before A/C touching down & strong impacts
 P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 shout commands & assume brace position
4. A/C has strong impacts & stops
 Capt gives command “Evacuate, Evacuate, Evacuate”. P1, P2, P3, P4,P5 shouts commands, open exits &
evacuates paxs when receive evacuation signals
 Or cabin crew can start evacuate if aircraft has come to complete stop without any signal from flight deck

a) BRIEF NITS SEQUENCE
- P2, P3, P4, P5: stop service, secure cabin, galley, return to station and wait
for instructions.
- P2, P3, P4, P5 must not panic paxs when answering any questions from
passenger.

- P1 to cockpit to receive NITS briefing from Capt:


 Accurate info / confirm information / synchronize time
- Or captain will make emergency call to cabin to brief all crewmember

- Pur shortly briefs NITS to P2, P3, P4, P5 in case of receiving information
from captain:
- Sufficient/ accurate/ brief/ clear
- Apply the correct procedure on A321 (use PA for communication in CEET)

b) MAKE ANNOUNCEMENT & CHECK CABIN & GALLEY


- P1: makes short and clear announcement of landing preparation.
- P2, P3, P4, P5 checks and secured cabin and galley [Seatback upright,
Arm rest down, tray tables secured, Window shades up, Hand luggage
stowed, Seatbelt fastened & no smoking, Galley electronics are off,
Galley equipment/carts are stowed and latched.]
- Self- remove sharp objects /loose items, put life vest on if time is possible

c) RETURN TO CREW STATION & REPORT


- Cabin crew check Main Doors in CORRECT mode
A321 NEO/CEO (Ditching) A321 ACF (Ditching):
- P1, P2, P5 check their - P1, P2, P3, P5 check their

- P4 will disarm the door 2L&R - P4 will disarm the door 3L&R
- P3 will disarm the door 3L&R
- [P2, P3, P4, P5 comes back seat and and self-secure].
- [P1 checks all cabin, comes back seat, self-secure and make CALL ALL to
get reports from other CC then report to Capt].
“CABIN SECURED FOR EMERGENCY LANDING”
Note: this report applies for both landing & ditching.
d) SILENT REVIEW & BRACE POSITION
- Secure Self, Silent Review, Wait for brace signal
- Command (appropriate, strong, loud, long, synchronizing…)

seated

- Brace position (appropriate)
e) EVACUATION TECHNIQUE
- Command (appropriate, strong, loud, long, synchronizing, no panic…)
- Door open techniques:
 hold frame assist handle and door control handle
 check outside condition
 lift door control handle and release
- OPEN THE DOOR IN DISARMED MODE FOR DITCHING
A321 NEO/CEO A321 ACF
- P3 & P4 - P4
- Push the door manually if it is not opened automatically

- Wait for slide/raft inflating and perform right stand back position
- Stand on the dedicated place, shout right command and evacuate
paxs. Promptly give a right impact to paxs who hesitates to jump and
slide.
- Promptly shout right command to redirect paxs the other exits if it is
unusable.
- Evacuate all paxs with times required and right slide technique
- Check cabin, support other areas
- Take survival equipment and evacuate
