REVIEW-BASED PROJECT

CLASS OF LISTENING

1. Review-based project is a project where a group of students reviews a movie.

2. There are two parts of this project: (1) review writing and (2) podcast-like.

3. In the part of writing your review, follow these procedures:

a. Write a review up to 2 pages based on the movie from 2019-2020.

b. Write your review in Microsoft word A4, space 1.5, font 12 times new roman.

c. In order to help you strengthen your writing, follow the steps of reviewing

movie (SEE NEXT PAGE).

4. In the part of podcast-like, follow these procedures:

a. Make a YouTube video that contains a talk about the movie you review with

your group.

b. The duration of your video is at least 10 minutes.

c. All members in your group are required to actively talk, share idea, discuss, and

express opinions in reviewing the movie.

d. It is vital to introduce yourself at the beginning of your video.

5. Submit your writing and YouTube link before 27 January 2021 via

andyhykmah@gmail.com with the email subject: LISTENING PROJECT. Those who

need extra-dates submission will be considered unwisely.


STEPS OF REVIEWING MOVIE

• Watch the film at least once.


Once is necessary twice is preferable.

• Express your opinions and support your criticism.


Tell your opinions whether the movie was good, bad, or indifferent. Be sure to back up
your thoughts with specifics–a disappointing performance, a ridiculous plot, beautiful
cinematography, difficult material that leaves you thinking, and so on.

• Consider your audience.


Knowing who your readers to help you decide what elements of the movie to highlight.
Are you reviewing for a fan site or general audience?

• Know the Actors’ portfolios.


Spend a little space talking about the actors’ role, performance, script, and so much more
can be said about the actors in the film.

• Call out directors, cinematographers, special effects.


Tell your audiences about the highlights or missteps of directors, cinematographers,
costume designers and CGI magicians, what worked, what surprised, and what fell short
of expectations.

• No spoilers!
Give some idea of the plot, but be careful not to include any spoilers.

• Reread, rewrite and edit.


Take the time to check your spelling and edit your piece for organizational flow.

• Find your voice.


Have a distinct personality that comes across in your review to grab audiences’ attention
and keep them interseted.
