(INSIDE DUBAI AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL)

Air traffic control facility is an airport facility that is strictly for employees only especially on

while the operation is running. There is little to no chance of getting inside an air traffic control

facility for it is a very technical and crucial facility in the airport.

The video showed just enough information about the air traffic control facility in Dubai which is

very helpful especially to aspiring Air traffic controllers or Despatchers especially the Air traffic

control facility in Dubai which said to be developed or began operating on 1960s and became

publicly independent air navigation service provider on 2007. There are DIFFERENT

FUNCTIONS OF ATC FACILITIES as discussed in the video this facility in Dubai reaches

1000 to 2000 air vehicles per day with a mission to provide safe and efficient air flight service.

Control rooms is the room in which air traffic controllers conduct or do their jobs.

Operation rooms which has 2 positions that controls the runway and ground movement control.

Operation room has a space provided for Air traffic controllers on their break.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF EACH PERSONNEL MANNING THE ATC

FACILITIES

According to the Deputy CEO of Dubai Air Traffic control their Duties and responsibilities

involves, best leadership in order to handle and govern the business the best possible way, Clear

vision to make sure that their duties are performed based on their goal , Mission to carry out

accomplishment, right support to provide the right services, best equipment which is shown on

the video , best people that knows the best to provide the best service in an airline industry

specifically on air navigation.

The head of the air traffic control, which handles 6 working positions and 2 ground movement.

Duty manager that looks after the safety and operation, handles the team that runs the operation

in the active control room which basically serves as the main room where Air traffic controllers

do their tasks in a very quiet and organized setting.

Each of the ATC personnel has specific tasks in which one can be assigned or is assigned in

Ground 1 and other on Position 1, 2 and so on.

Aerospace manager in charge of procedures decisions, the projects that they implement for the

aircrafts for a better operation.

Focusing on other models that helps advance the technology that accommodates the procedure

involving traffics, designs and so on. This makes me think that this airport is developing and

handling the operations, and services equally excellent in which the focus is not just about the

revenue but also the assurance of the airport being more advanced for future use too.

Clearance delivery is also made by a specific personnel in the ATC which can be done by 1 or

few more ATCs. Pending clearances are monitored to make sure flights are organized for more

safety checks and proper distance with each other.

Approach control room is the room in which the personnel handles the Approaching aircraft and

services involving aircrafts that are approaching, they have similar equipment that provides the

same information for other personnel. Main responsibility is to maintain the safety of aircrafts

going in and out of the airport. Manages international airport.

What amazed me the most is that this airport has their own room for simulation, to train air

traffic controllers or students studying air traffic, it was known to be the biggest Simulator tower

in the world.

There is also a back up facility to see identical routers to see the arrival and departure positions.

Which basically means there is another room that collects and monitors the operations for double

checking to make sure that nothing will be missed.

A room specifically for storing information, Radar operation, data and other system related

information are all carefully monitored in case of any possible accidents or incidents that might

happen they have black boxes prepared in order to have investigation and data of any specific

issue that might occur that could also help improve the service.

Aircrafts has black boxes available and also there is a set of black box separated for the air traffic

control. Telephone or other radio-telecommunication is also recorded.

REQUIREMENTS IN EXERCISING ATC FUNCTIONS

Usually this requires man power, better decision making and tolerance in a stressful environment

given that ATC tasks can be very confusing too and pressure for the lives in each and every

flight that takes off. ATC requires Good Analytical skills in order to properly distinguish and

remember details.

DIFFERENT SUPPORT SERVICES INVOLVED IN PERFORMING ATC FUNCTIONS

Dubai Air Navigation Services is the core of Flight to maneuver the flights from the Ground

facilities or control rooms.

Can also be the Instrument landing system was also presented in which it was explained on

where or which side of the runway is available to use

Radar displays and more.

COMPARE AND DESCRIBE IT TO PHILIPPINE SETTING

Dubai Airport is a business focused on continuous progress and advancement of the Operation to

provide better and much more convenient service which explains why in a short period of time

this airline became the most busies airport that focuses not just on the service but also the

devices or equipment that solves problems that passengers are encountering.

I am also surprised that they have this device in which pilots does not hundred percent manually

drive the aircraft for landing because there is a device that reads coming aircrafts and takes care

of the system for a smoother landing which is good for the aircraft too. In which here in the

Philippines from my own suggestion is focused on the revenue and the business, the security is

tough but the equipment is very lacking especially now that technology is rapid in advancement

but Philippines is being left out.
