Review Cable

You have asked yourself how many TV series currently portray the reality of women
and its evolution. Usually it is a story full of struggle and obstacles, due to the fact that
probably now the gap between men and women is not too evident as it used to be,
though, it was much easier to prove that we lived in a man's world. With no further
details, this is the case of the first Spanish series released on Netflix's online platform.
The cable girls, develop the story of 4 friends who go through many situations
throughout its life story, they meet after applying for a job as telephone operators in the
phone company in Madrid. Where Lidia the protagonist, has an old acquaintance who
brings back memories of the past and thereby, an old love. The protagonist also hides
dark secrets about her past.
These 4 women begin to work as telephone operators in the most important building in
the capital of Spain. For Lidia (Blanca Suarez), Marga (Nadia De Santiago), Carlota
(Ana Fernandez) and Angeles (Maggie Civantos), they begin a fight for their
independence and that reflects the climate that was lived in the society where women
could not even work without being looked at pejoratively. The friendship of these four
women will be the key for them to fulfill their dreams together and taste true freedom.
The series is set in the year 1929, the telephone company is presented, pioneer in the
world of telecommunications and which employed female telephone operators. Antonio
Hernandez and Manuel Gomez are the Spanish producers of this series, undoubtedly
praised for their work in portraying the story of four women at a time when it was not
well seen that a woman played the same role as a man. However, this attempt to
portray the struggle of the woman of the time may be at certain points in the series a
little unrealistic. In short, nothing like a good bit of action, sometimes a little bit of
fantasy, to get hooked on a series.

I would highly recommend  this series, if you like historical and feminist themes. The
series shows a female struggle that you don't often encounter in many series. The
series is made up of 5 seasons the last one released less than a month ago, it is
available on the Netflix platform. Believe it or not, no matter how far away the time
was, you can identify with the challenges and obstacles that these women
experienced.
