Summary:

In this project our Team will do a geological study on the Sitakund Anticline. The
sitakund anticline is located in Chittagong Bangladesh. The sitakund Hill range is located
in the west of Chittagong hill tracks. The sitakund structure is about 70km long and 10km
wide and it is located in North-west part of Chittagong district. Around the sitakund
anticline we can find the feni River and in the south the Karnaphulli river, in the east the
helda river and the west the swandip river. In our project we will study the geological
Phenomena that happen in this anticline. We will apply all the theories we learned in the
class to assess the area. After finishing we will apply our civil engineering skills to
propose the best way to design a building to be built there.

Purpose and Objective:

The purpose of our project is to study the different geological properties of the anticline
but such a process is not easy. In this project we will depend on google earth and on
pictures taken of the anticline. We will assess this anticline and study its different
geological properties. First our objective is to measure the distances of the anticline using
goggle maps the will have visual pictures of the landforms then locate the different types
of Rock studied in class like igneous, Sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. In addition,
we will identify the structural features of these rocks. After studying the rocks, we will be
able to get information about the history of formation of these rocks in this area. In
addition, we will study this anticline more deeply and mention its different
characteristics. Finally, we will formulate methods that allows us to build their safely.
