EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Objective
Wireless connectivity is an upcoming craze in Fiji’s Industry Market. Extreme N-tertainment owns two
separate shops in the newly established Airport Central Shopping Complex in Namaka, Nadi. Due to its
customer focussed, the organisation upgrade it’s IT structure to meet the connectivity demand.

Goals
To facilitate the adequate and best service as per clients needs:
Setup WLANs for Xtreme N-tertainment Company
Configuring and installing wireless routers and wireless device for the company.
Identifying the appropriate and best topology for the company
Develop of the network chart

Solution
After going through a series of meetings, Extreme N-tertainment and Solutech Fiji have established that the
client prefers to have both the shops on Wireless LANs, and then both the Wireless LANs connected
through traditional cabling (WAN).

Project Outline
The project will be conducted in 3 phases:
Phase 1 - Setup of two wireless LANs
Phase 2 - Setup of LANs
Phase 3 - Wired WAN Setup

3. a).Monitor Performance using diagnostic Tools.

Once you open the NetCrunch Network Tool, click on “Ping” and an address bar will appear where you
will have to enter the IP address of another PC to check or test if the two PC’s are communicating.

Over here we typed the IP address of another computer on the IP address bar as shown below and
checked if the PC is communicating with the other PC or not. It shows how many packets was sent,
how many packets was received and the number of packets lost

b) Debug any network issues in order to have a trouble free wireless network. A special document
can be prepared in order to show this procedure and kept for future reference.

Steps

Type in the IP address of another PC to check if they connected or if they are

communicating.
Click on start, type ‘cmd ’on the search bar and press enter.
Type ‘ping’ space and the IP address of another PC and then press enter.
The result will show the reply from the other PC, the number of packets sent, received and the number
of packets lost.
The statistics below show that 4 P Packets were sent, 4 were received and number lost was 0.

Phase 2: LANs Setup

(4) Setup of WLANs

1. A. 802.11 topologies
Independent basic service set (IBSS)
Basic service set (BSS)
Refers to wireless network that use a single AP and design one or more wireless clients
Connecting to the AP. Many home offices are examples of a BSS.

Extended basic service set (EBSS

Refers to two or more connected BSSs that use multiple Aps. The EBSS is used to create WLAN or
longer wireless network and is a collection of Aps and clients. Connecting BSS systems enables
clients to roam between areas and maintain the wireless connection without having to reconfigure
between BSSs.

Extended basic service set (EBSS) is the most appropriate network topology for Xtreme N-
tertainment. Since it comprises of more than one access point, which would be capable of providing
network coverage out to the corner of the building.

Different Topologies suitable for LAN Network

Star Topology

Every node has its own dedicated connection to the hub.

Hub acts as a repeater for data flow.
Can be used with twisted pair, optical Fibre or coaxial cable

Ring Topology

Number of repeaters is used for Ring Topology with large numbers of nodes, because if someone
wants to send some data to the last node in the ring topology with 100 nodes, then data will have to
pass through 99nodes to reach the 100 node.
Cheap to install and expand
Transmitting network is not affected by high traffic or by adding more nodes.

Hybrid Topology

It has a combination of two topologies

Inherits the advantage and disadvantages of the topologies included
Reliable as error detecting and trouble shooting is easy
Effective

Hybrid Topology

Recommended Topology for Extreme N-tertainement

Hybrid Topology:

Due to its complex physical environment setup, using Hybrid Topology will be the best suitable
setup for the Office, internet shop,Game centre and the Flight Simulation Room.

Phase 3: Wired WAN Setup

Resource requirements for a WAN

CAT 6
Category 6 is a major improvement over Cat 5e. It's really just the bee's knees. It's suitable up to 10
gigabit Ethernet at 250 MHz’s. To even better tackle the issue of that pesky for crosstalk in', Cat 6 cable
has an internal separator that isolates pairs from one another.
In order to connect both shops on a network, it needs wired connectivity.
To enable this, a CAT6 cable is used to connect both the shops. CAT6 supports Gigabit Ethernet
speeds up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) and supports communications

CAT 6 SPECIFICATIONS
Category 6 is a major improvement over Cat 5e
Speed: 10/100/1000MbE, 10GbE (Shorter Distances or Cat6a Required for 10GbE).
Maximum Cable length: 100 meters; 10GbE over shorter distances.
Standard gauges in conductors : 22-24 AWG wire
Frequency: Up to 250 MHz

ROUTER
A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform
the traffic directing functions on the Internet. A data packet is typically forwarded from one router to
another router through the networks that constitute the internetwork until it reaches its destination node.

ROUTER SPECIFICATION
Wireless AC1900 Wi-Fi. Supports 802.11ac, the next generation of Wi-Fi
Stream 4K Ultra HD video and game online without lag over a clear 5GHz band while using the 2.4GHz
band for everyday tasks
Simultaneous dual band networks, 2.4GHz (600Mbps) and 5GHz (1300Mbps)
3 detachable high performance antennas for maximum wireless coverage and reliability
Beam forming technology locates wireless devices to create a stronger connection
Powerful 1GHz dual-core processor handles simultaneous wired and wireless connections without
interruption
USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports to easily share printers, files, and media across your network
TP-LINK Live 24/7 technical support for assistance with setup and configuration (Cable Organizer.com,
2017)

Considering the physical environment in terms of your WAN setup and identifying additional
requirements needed to make the connectivity possible.

Additional Requirements:

WAP

A wireless access point (WAP) is a networking hardware device that allows a Wi-Fi compliant device to
connect to a wired network. The WAP is usually connected to a router.

Router

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform
the traffic directing functions on the internet. It is connected to the access point by cat 6 cable. Points
most commonly used to support public internet hotspots and also on internal business networks to
extend their Wi-Fi signal range.

Conclusion:

Solutech Fiji would like to thank the Extreme N-tertainment management for believing and choosing the
right solution that Solutech Fiji provides that will fulfil the organisations need for the customers.Given the
wide ranges of topologies, choosing the right topology (Hybrid) was the solution for Extreme N-tertainment.
The incorporation of the Wireless network with LANs best suites the business provided by
Extreme N-tertainment that will cater for Game centre, Play Station 3 and Flight Simulators. The network
setup will provide Extreme N-tertainment with a high return on investment and easier to manage and
control.
